    Scrounging Firewood (and other stuff)

In other news, it's one of those wet spring days where a little heat is nice but not really enough for a fire. Haven't had a fire in about a week and the box that my wife puts cereal boxes and egg cartons, papers etc is getting over filled. So I had a paper fire. Not something I'd do often but...

Soap is the big septic bed killer. Kills bacteria and then you get "black" in the field. The field then won't flow and it's a big mess. Ask me how I know. Been here 16 years on a new build and 2 years ago I had to completely redo the septic from the tank out. Dig up my whole front yard and...

I have a love hate relationship with drum brakes. They last a long time but what a pain to work on! 08 corolla. Parking brake cable seized of course so it's back to the parts store... Love living in the rust belt....not really.

Been carrying smaller amounts of wood up since it's getting close to the end of the season. Burned about half of what I do on a cold winter. 4 facecord or rick or rack or 1 1/3 full cord compared to 7 facecord or 2 1/3 full cord. At this rate I won't need wood for 3 years. I may have to resort...

Gee whiz get busy for a couple weeks and I'm 50 pages behind! Although not wood, this fireplace is interesting. I didn't build this one, another fabricator did but my company powder coated it. Got a tour of this custom home today. Ceiling is all western clear cedar. Took 3 truck loads to pick...

11 degrees C this morning, supposed to go to -7 this afternoon, that's 52-19 for the non metric folks, and possibly 6-12 inches of snow. Maple trees are budding. Weird year

I guess it's available in several colors.

I've had my splitter for several years...no accidents... 😂 Hope it heals up good!

You're not wrong. Maybe the thing to do is not let them get out of hand, then I can use the pruning clippers.

My $40 craftsman 42cc saw may be on the way out. Either primer bulb or fuel line but I'm not sure I'll bother. Used the poulan 2050 to brutalize some apple trees 3 years overdue for a pruning. Not loving using a 50cc saw overhead but got the job done. I'll clean up and do some hand pruning with...

Lol, I should be! Could stand to lose a pound or thirty! Makes a perfect sized egg sammich with cheese and hot sauce. Hamburger bun in this case but bagel or english muffin get used too depending on what's kicking around.

Cooked breakfast in my favorite cast iron. Burned firewood and caught up on 16 pages is all I accomplished today!

Found this in the ashes. Must have been right inside a piece of wood because I never saw it during the cut, split and stack process.
