    John Deere chainsaws

Thanks guys! The 290 weighs in at 13 lbs so it can be a little heavy for a smaller user, at that price I doubt I could go wrong!:greenchainsaw:

    John Deere chainsaws

Are all the Deere saws made by Efco? and would the CS40 make a good back up/beginner saw? My MS290 is just a little heavy for my oldest daughter to run comfortably.

    Stihl MS260 vs. Stihl MS310

I fall into the occasional user category and use an MS290 and am well pleased with its performance and would expect you to be just as happy with the MS310.I've got both a 20" bar and an 18" narrow kerf bar,it will pull the 20" without much trouble but it really likes the narrow kerf setup! I'm...

    Stihl using Redmax engines?

    Where to find wood pallets

Look behind almost any business that gets in large deliveries of anything. If your area is like mine they are more than happy to give them away just for asking. They have to pay an extra disposal fee to have them hauled off and they are usually very happy to have someone who wants to take them off...

Your opinion on the following: Proper etiquette when You break a borrowed saw.

I "lost" most all of my "friends" when I quit loaning tools.I'd always been the if you need me I'm there guy.I've had tools returned completely destroyed or otherwise disfigured and when it came down to replacement the damage was either blown off or ignored! The worst insult is having to go repo...

I've got an old Craftsman and with a good sharp chain it will hold its own.You just have to remember they aren't really designed for big stuff just mainly limbing and small clean up work.

    026 cylinder question

The repair manual and parts book were my first purchases for this saw.I learned a long time ago it's cheaper and less headache to buy the manuals before starting any project such as this.I'll take the advice on further teardown before ordering the P&C.

    026 cylinder question

Thanks again! At that price this project just might get moving faster than I originally planned on!When replacing the top end is there anything else I might want to inspect or change out while I've got it apart?
