    Husky 350 idle problem

You probably have already done it but if not, go to the Husky website and download the manual and print it out. It will clearly show you the proper adjustments and setup. For some reason your air-fuel mixture is off for the idle setting. Adjust first if possible then buy parts and service if...

Husky 55 Rancher, Stilh MS290 or Echo CS440

I use both a Husky 55 and a 359. No problems with either, fine saws. 18 or 20" bar, 3/8 chain. makes lots of chips. Since the 359 is a little more robust and has the newer features I'd buy it before I bought a 55 (or 455). http://store.baileys-online.com/cgi-bin/baileys/991 Baileys...

    Chain rotation

You might take a screwdriver and slide it all around the bar groove. Any pinching will be detected. Like others have said, check the drive links for rough edges (you can feel them). Lastly, be sure the chain is made for this particular bar (stuff happens!). If everything looks and feels...

Is our red maple a goner?

I doubt you over watered it since the other is doing okay. Anyone put down weed killer or excessive amounts of lawn fertilizer in the vicinity of the root ball? I'd leave it alone for a couple of months and pray for sprouts. If nothing, then I'd yank it and replant (checking the roots...

    New Chainsaw for 4x4er/homeowner

I think your choice is on the small side for trail clearing. The chainsaw purists will puh-puh this choice of saws but I think the Husky Rancher is perfect for what you are looking for. It isn't too heavy and yet it still has the guts to take out something bigger than your basic limbing...

    Need help with tree selection

Take a walk around your neighborhood. When you see something you like that seems to be thriving knock on the door, tell them you are a neighbor down the street, not a Jehovah Witness, but just want to ask them what kind of tree it is and where did they get it and how do they like it. Most...

Is our red maple a goner?

I have some questions. Do you have any pictures? How often do you water it? Has the edger/lawnmower cut the bark around the base of the tree? Did you get it at a nursery or garden center that will replace trees that croak within one year?

Is my new saw supposed to do this??

BINGO! Dull chain maybe! When you run your finger over the cutter does it grab it or does it just slide off? Are you getting good sized chips or sawdust when cutting? What kind of bar and chain are you running? The reason I'm asking is the picture looks like the bar says Stihl. I'm...

Shopping For 20" to 24" Saw

farmjim- Here's my 2 cents in response to your question about price of a "used" saw. 1/2 the cost of a "new" saw is a good price for a "used" saw if it is in like-new, excellent condition, and it comes with all the original instructions and accessories. For any other condition just...

Shopping For 20" to 24" Saw

Nice work! The cherry I felled also had ants and rotten heart wood where it split. It is a shame some good woodworker couldn't use the wood for some nice furniture, turnings, etc. I will not to drop a bundle of money buying a big, clunky, heavy chainsaw. If tree cutting was my primary...

Shopping For 20" to 24" Saw

FarmJim - Welcome! There are lots of good saws that will work for your purposes so I'm not rabid about my following suggestion. I'm a homeowner who lives in the woods and I own and use two Husky 359's with 20" bars. With a sharp chain and fresh gas these $400+/-, 4 hp, medium-sized saws...

Best used med-large saw and price

I suggest looking at the Husky "359" for $400 +/-. It is a medium sized, 4hp saw with all the latest features. Here's a link with more info. http://store.baileys-online.com/cgi-bin/baileys/991 I have two of them. Don't skimp too much. An extra $100 for a saw that has some guts and...

    Brother got the wrong gas

Yes it is possible that no harm will come from it. Octane is just something to prevent engine knock, not a "power enhancer" like so many think it is. 100 octane has the same BTU's of energy as 87 octane. I would dilute it with your ordinary mix if you still have any of the mix on hand.

I have seen those but never used one.

    chipper/shredders

The leaf hopper holds a bunch of leaves but it is funnel shaped at the bottom and you can overpack it just before it enters the cutters. If you use a 2x4 or big stick you can dump leaves into it and push them through to the cutters quickly. Two folks, one dumping in leaves, the other pushing...

    chipper/shredders

Evan 629- Here's my story. I bought a used MTD Yard machine from a neighbor. It was in excellent shape and the operating manual had a receipt showing an original price of $400. Here is a link to a picture of it with some other users' comments...
