I was running it with handfiled 3/8 full comp lgx. 461: 18.13, 17.70, 18.60 / 361: 22.76, 22.09 / 441: 25.62, 23.69.... those were the times in a piece of very hard smoothbark hickory. 441 stock with muffler mod, 361 ported and 461 ported.
Putting the 460 oiler on the 361 makes a huge difference as far as I’m concerned too. It’s the cherry on top of a great saw that doc did. 460 oiler part number. It makes the ported 361 capable of running a long bar in a pinch if it’s a guy’s only saw. Just let it work at its pace, sharp chain.
My honest opinion? If a guy is looking to run a 18-24 to cut firewood or limb and fell pulpwood/pine/hemlock, a ported 60 cc saw like a strong 361 is the ticket. They can be faster than a stock 70cc saw for that. The 462 is not a 60cc saw. Yes it is one of the lighter 70’s, but it is noticeably...
Thought this place could use a saw video thread. Post em up. Ported, stock or crappy...cutting cookies on a Sunday, firewooding or felling timber... it don’t matter lol. Have fun guys.
I would buy a 565 before I bought a 365xtorq anyday sir. It’s well worth the minor price difference... what’s 150$ over the next 20 years you’ll have this saw? 572/565 has larger main bearings, more robustly built along with many improvements and for someone like you the autotune is nice... it’s...
Stay away from the mtronic version and go with the adjustable carb if you have to have a 441. They are a comfortable good worksaw to run, but overly complex and a pain to work on.
X the XTORQ if it’s scored or worn out bad and fit an oem old style 372oe 50mm jug, black coil and intake tract. They run better and the price of new oem kits is very reasonable for what you get. The xtorq does have great torque and uses less fuel, makes a great work saw honestly. But I still...
The sprocket does not increase or decrease flow of oil. You would have to change the worm gear gearing or ramp on the oil pump piston. The sprocket only changes the chain speed, so yes the b/c does wear more with a larger sprocket because it’s getting the same amount of oil as a smaller one.
Go with the 365 if you plan to do light duty milling. It has more low end grunt. The 562 is the better forestry saw, tree trunk to tree top processing. More highly strung. I’ve freehand ripped small white pine slabs easily with my ported 562, but that’s a heavily modified saw. Heavy duty milling...
