Stihl 056 Mag II Freebie! - Begging for parts!

yep very lucky. Like I told dad, if we had been looking for this saw, never would have found it. I think I may have found an alternative oregon bearing with similar dimensions. I hope it will work!

Stihl 056 Mag II Freebie! - Begging for parts!

Yep, a freebie. Couldn't believe it. I found this saw about 2 years ago, sitting in a wheelbarrow at a friend's farm who my father purchased a tractor from. We gave him a load of firewood this year and he came back over later and brought my dad the saw. After a thorough cleaning it runs...

Need you to dig into your Stihl parts pile!!!

We found an oiler, but it's the gear that goes behind the clutch. Something was out of kelter and pop fixed the gear & oiler that was there. Nothing like someone giving you a saw and nothing's wrong with it. Very very clean 056 mag. This'll be for sale soon!

Hate to dig up an old thread but someone gave me a 56 mag and all it needs is the oiler fixed. Anyone have this same Part laying around?

    Stihl 038AV Magnum

Mag and mag II were just designations on the 38. 72.2cc for all the magnum series, 66cc for the super, and 62cc for the AV.

Pennies from heaven in the shape of an MS460

I've about decided to just throw the thing back together and see if it will run as is with a little work and not even split the case right now. I've got a feeling the bearings aren't even bad. This diamond in the rough is looking better all the time

Pennies from heaven in the shape of an MS460

I think that's the bump, it's on the coil. I filled the case up with some Sae30 motor oil and turned it over a few times, it all feels good, even the rod bearing does now too. perfectly smooth.

Pennies from heaven in the shape of an MS460

So can the rod bearing be replaced or should I shop for another crankshaft?

Pennies from heaven in the shape of an MS460

He recommended putting sea foam into the case and let it sit submerged for a while. it will move, but it's got a little "bump" in it (crank bearings). The rod bearing feels worse than the crank bearings but will still move without much effort. I poured some mix down into the crankcase after...

Pennies from heaven in the shape of an MS460

so it is possible to properly press out the rod bearing? the tech here didn't have a press and seemed kinda squeamish about it.

Pennies from heaven in the shape of an MS460

Saws aren't my cup of tea. I'm better at tractors, trucks & computers. Not necessarily in that order :P. I can do some basic assembly and troubleshooting on one, but I don't have the specialized tools for bearing replacement nor do I want to get into the bottom end of a saw!

Pennies from heaven in the shape of an MS460

Ok, Hello Arboristsite. It's been a while since I poked around but thought this story would be interesting. Having recently sold my MS660 as I got a divorce and needed some cash to pay bills - my dad is taking his daily walk down the road. He notices an MS460 air cover laying on the side of...

Nice saws there. Speaking of good deals my pops found a 460 laying in the road earlier this week. Will post some pics later. Gonna try to fix it. It was on it's way to the landfill. ;)

    14inch 3/8" .050 guage B&C

    /bump I guess these don't exist? I saw some on baileys website but they're 3/8's for non-stihl brands. .365 pitch I think.
