Got the new worm gear in. Took the saw all apart and cleaned the ever lovin' you know what out of it. The pump and the passage in the saw itself were both plugged. Saw was plugged hard. Took a full can of carb cleaner and a few bursts of compressed air to get the blockage blown out. Replaced...

Ok, new gear will be here Wednesday. Anything I should do before I put it in? I plan to take the pump apart and clean it really well, then slather it all in bar oil and shove it all back in there. Are there any special considerations I need to account for here?

What does your area look like? (pic heavy)

I've been wanting to move for the last 10 years or so, and doing so may finally be within my grasp in the next 12 months or so. That being said, I will miss home. Southwest New Mexico is beautiful in its own way. So, what does home look like for all of you? I'll start off with a few pics. All of...

Would you try to run this ?

Heck man, I ported and polished a Dodge 360 when I was 14, it turned out great! I don't see any excuse for work like the OP posted.

Want to Buy 395XP oil pump assembly

I know I at least need a new worm gear. The pump itself I dont know enough about to say one way or the other. I haven't taken the hose and filter out yet, either.

The washer's there, just didn't include it on the pic. Think I'll just try to find the whole pump assembly.

Welp... Tore the saw apart after running it sans bar and chain, and clutch cover. No oil. Shut it off and it pushed a bit out of the orifice... So I pulled the clutch and the worm gear. The teeth look ok, but the back is all ate up. Think this is the only issue? Or should I replace the whole pump?

Yeah, I just know I want the heck outta here. I want land int the mountains with a river running through it. That's the end game for this saw.

Haven't gotten that far into the saw yet. Gonna have to do so soon. I have tried both full CW and 1.5 turns CCW on the adjuster, seems to be a tiny bit better CCW... If I let it sit, running, for about a minute it'll sling oil off of the portion of the chain that was under the oiler.

I'll think about doing all that sporty stuff later on. At the very least I have to wait until I figure out whats going on with the oiler...
