    Armillaria Root Rot pic

I saw this in our wood lot, the black webbing was running 6 feet up under the bark of the tree (which has all fallen off by now). I've heard Armillaria is pretty common but I really haven't seen it in person too often, or maybe I have but just never noticed or thought about what it was.

    IPM?

Does anyone utilize IPM inspections as part of their PHC business? Do you know of any good books specifically for businesses? I don't need to know about the pests and diseases, more interested in plans and inspection forms and being able to charge a fee for diagnosis and inspections. I found an...

Here is a picture I took of rust forming on hawthorn blooms before the flowers even dropped off.

    Cedar hawthorn rust treatment

The label you circled does not specifically indicate control of rust! Is he growing this fruit to eat? Might be best to skip sprays altogether or find an organic fungicide such as copper sufate. https://www.planetnatural.com/pest-problem-solver/plant-disease/cedar-apple-rust/

    Coppicing or Re-viving old birch

I've seen the purple leafed ornamental birch re sprout from the ground after being completely destroyed by BBB. By the following year, although skinny they were like 5' tall

    Coppicing or Re-viving old birch

I don't think it will do anything except make them look a little less unsightly for a while. Paper Birch are native, Ojibwe used to live in birch bark wigwams before European settlers arrived.

    Black Oak - dying?

We don't get bacterial leaf scorch in my area. I would call someone local to look at that. Usually when the top dies back it's permanent but there may be some treatment options like insecticides and growth regulators that can help the tree live as long as possible.

Has anyone utilized trunk injection for apple scab?

I've had the f series for 2 years now and I only go up to 35psi. The new system has advantages and disadvantages. The main disadvantage is those hex pds get all clogged up by the end of the year, I think it's mostly from mineral injections that I do in fall. I never had that issue with the tree...

Has anyone utilized trunk injection for apple scab?

Maybe post results of your bark spray trial this spring and I'll do the same with the trunk inject for scab.

Has anyone utilized trunk injection for apple scab?

I haven't used the quick jet air yet. I have the quick jet too, and it only really came in handy if I had a bunch of small trees to treat in one area. Doubling the number of trees in a day is a good advantage, well worth 1800 or whatever they cost now. I talked to one of the Davey R&D guys at a...

Has anyone utilized trunk injection for apple scab?

I will check out Reliant. What factors do you think caused the bark spray to have mixed results? Too much rain, high disease pressure? I am thinking of trying the arborjet stinger needles but if I get leakage after the first site injection I will switch to arborplugs. I'm also thinking of...

From Jeff Palmer, the wound sealed after 1 year. It's hard for me to see in this picture.

No I haven't tried bark spray because they sound too good to be true.

Has anyone utilized trunk injection for apple scab?

I will be trying out Phosphojet on a few crabapple trees this year. I will be following Jeff Palmer's (Arborjet upper midwest technical manager) protocol. 1 full dose shortly before or at bud break and a follow up 1/2 dose (old injection sites) 10 days later. Additionally I may also try a few...

    Chemicals used in PHC

Always read the product label of what you are handling. Only use the product if it is listed for control of the target pest. Most of the violations/ environmental disasters come from using products inappropriately. Linden trees and imidacloprid come to mind.

Prelim trials of Micro-infusion versus macro-infusion for prevention of OW

The arborjet system is really good, no leaks or anything, wounds are kept sealed with the arborplugs. It's expensive but really works well and a good healthy oak only takes about 30 min to treat. Of course when they are within root graft distance I double the rate and use 20ml propizol per 1"...

    Rainbow Q Connect

As I suspected there are several injection sites not receiving product when I watched a video on how to use the q-connect. The guy doing the video was more concerned about checking for leaks and made no mention of the empty lines.

    Rainbow Q Connect

I have not used it but I used the macro infusion system that the design is based on for years with DED and iron infusions. My opinion on the macro infusion system is it was really poor technology from the 70's that put 99% of the product in the first few injection sites and pressure drops off...
