    Armillaria Root Rot pic

I saw this in our wood lot, the black webbing was running 6 feet up under the bark of the tree (which has all fallen off by now). I've heard Armillaria is pretty common but I really haven't seen it in person too often, or maybe I have but just never noticed or thought about what it was.

    IPM?

Does anyone utilize IPM inspections as part of their PHC business? Do you know of any good books specifically for businesses? I don't need to know about the pests and diseases, more interested in plans and inspection forms and being able to charge a fee for diagnosis and inspections. I found an...

Has anyone utilized trunk injection for apple scab?

I will be trying out Phosphojet on a few crabapple trees this year. I will be following Jeff Palmer's (Arborjet upper midwest technical manager) protocol. 1 full dose shortly before or at bud break and a follow up 1/2 dose (old injection sites) 10 days later. The arborist tossed a log into the chipper and it grabbed a hold at an angle causing the log to smash against the right side of the chipper, smashing his thumb in the process. He needed surgery and rehab/...

Prelim trials of Micro-infusion versus macro-infusion for prevention of OW

Hey Everybody, I recently attended a tree health seminar and I am reporting on a talk by Jennifer Juzwik with the US forestry dept. The talk was mainly about the disease cycle of oak wilt but in the end she mentioned a trial she started in 2015 where they challenged micro-infusion injected oaks...

Which services make up the bulk of your phc business?

EAB treatments have become the bulk of our work in recent years. Tree fertilization comes in second. Spray applications for apple scab, needlecast and diplodia come in around 3rd, making our spring very busy. We also do DED/ OW injections, mineral injections and various insecticide...

What to charge for EAB 2 year treatment?

We've been doing trunk injections with Tree-age the last 4 years and the standard rate has always been $8.00-$10.00 per inch, with a few larger jobs around $7.00 per inch. The new dilemma, quoting as low as $7.00 per inch we are being under bid by as much as $2.00 per inch. We are located in...
