    blocking down onto tiles/pavers

stumbled into this thread, been awhile since I posted... Think it silly to suggest you can neg rig a stem faster then chunking, particularly if man hours are added in as it has to be at least twice as fast then to account for the guy running the ropes. Guessing their trolling you imagineero...

    mini, skid, or articulated loader.

just curious how you guys move the mini's around. I picked up a 650 last year with Vermeer grapple and a grinder head; and have been towing it around with a f550 dump truck. I debated trying to get it behind the cab of the f550 {I kind of like the dump truck for loading logs which has stopped...

Tree Morphogenesis book 1 - free deownload - seeking feedback

tree guys and science I haven't read the book or don't know the subject matter; but ill give it a fair shake. The key note speaker at the ISA Toronto event this year basically said we don't know squat about trees, particularly where bio mechanics are concerned. Some of the other lectures...

575 mod help My two 7900s went down Last week so I picked up a new 390 and a lightly used 07 575. I had ordered a new one (576) but that day some one traded the 575 In so I took the bird in hand... In the mean time a friend knowing i wanted saws replaced asap, found me a 281 and bought it...

Big nasty leaner, no crane access, would like some opinions/ advice

pulling trees Nice drop A thought for anyone considering such a job in the future... Residential guys don't work around skidders to much. If you can get one out for the "day" with a big fast hydraulic winch they can pull over trees so fast the branches will bend back. I had been in the...

bad idea to install dump box on pick up ?

Dump pump the least I spent for hydrolics was 2k parts only. My dump boxes "chipped" in at 5 to 10 k. I would like to set up a dump for less on a new 1 ton. I was toying with a winch type system but ultimately I will likely put hydraulics on it. Any thoughts on inexpensive dump systems...

    Load ratings of climbing equipment?

good point The prussics would have to be a 6" inches above and dressed; which would be a pita. Better yet, lose the hand ascender and foot lock with a prussics. I have the croll ascender mid saddle which makes this fairly easy. Never tried the foot ascenders but I imagine they would make it...

    Load ratings of climbing equipment?

Not trying to be a safety boss... Wolf, I would qualify statements like that, new or uneducated climbers can misinterpit. No one would jump off a thirty foot building into a paved parking lot with out expecting to get hurt or killed. Being stopped dead on a rope from thirty feet is the same...

    Load ratings of climbing equipment?

cammed ascenders A 10 foot fall unto a cammed acender is a recipe for death. In my other life as a high angle rescue guy cammed ascenders are for capturing the loads movement only, if there could be shock loading, double prussics or a device that "slips" are used. Particularly on static...
