    Panther mills

When I got mine a couple years ago, it took over 6 weeks. Communication was pretty bad; when I finally got hold of them and said to cancel the order, they said it would go out that week. It did. I've used it quite a bit--it's a good mill, though heavy (I've got a 42" pro, I think). Getting the...

Want to Buy Looking for good milling chainsaw 70-90+ cc under $700

I should mention that I bought a ported 394xp in December 2015--works like a charm!

Largest bar for Husky 394xp for milling?

No, I'm using the .063 gauge.

    Largest bar for Husky 394xp?

If you turn, you've got a ton of blanks there and wood enough to last a lifetime. Looks to me like you'll be able to get several 3" slabs from what is left. Those'll make beautiful tables or mantels.

    Largest bar for Husky 394xp?

Wow, that's a beautiful chunk of wood. Maple, I assume (from the leaf and the bark)?

I've got an auxiliary oiler for my 42" PantherMill II.

Largest bar for Husky 394xp for milling?

Thanks, BobL! That's kind of what I figured--based upon reading various threads on the forums here, but thought I'd ask anyway (being a newbie).

Largest bar for Husky 394xp for milling?

So, what's the largest recommended bar for milling with a ported Husky 394xp? Right now I've got a 36 and it does fine with that. Will it take a 48? Most of what I mill (so far) has been hardwood (oak, hackberry, maple). I'm looking at selling my 42" PantherMill II and maybe getting a 48"...

You can get a 48" Granberg from toolcenter.com for under $250--that's a great price. I got 42" PantherPro II last year primarily because it was less expensive, but I'm thinking of selling it and getting the larger Granberg because it's supposed to be much lighter.

Choosing between a Panther Mill II and a Granberg

How do you like the Granberg? I'm now thinking of selling my PantherMill and buying the Granberg because of the weight issue, thus saving my shoulders a bit more wear and tear. I've seen the 48" Granberg for about $249. How much lighter is it than a 42" PantherMill? Anybody know?

Choosing between a Panther Mill II and a Granberg

Thanks, Garrit. I'm doing fine. The plan was to do a superior capsular reconstruction using cadaver dermal material (some cool videos on YouTube!), but the arthritis on the humerus head (the ball) was too severe; so all he could do was clean up the arthritis, remove inflamed tissue and a couple...

Yeah, I looked at that thread last night. Thanks.

    Wood indentification?

Yes, I know it's spalted. The logs--hackberry and maple--sat uncovered on my driveway for 18-24 months (don't remember exactly when I had them delivered by a local arborist). Do I need to treat them with anything to stop the fungus? Also, most of these slabs are 2-3" thick, but as I said, the...

Well, that's what I thought, but I didn't realize hackberry grain was so pretty. Thanks, guys.

Best way to cut square and level rounds?

I did the same thing for some friends' wedding--they wanted 1inch thick rounds to use for chargers for centerpieces on the tables. He brought me a couple 2ft long oak and maple logs and I just free-handed the rounds with my 36" Husky 394xp.
