Oil cap leak 025... New cap or 23x3 o-ring?

Should I get Buna O rings that fit the screw in caps for the 025, new OEM flat rubber washers or a new cap? My oil cap is leaking. Prepping the saws for another year of wood cutting... Last year i was happy they were running well (crank seals) This year (moving forward luckily) id like...

440 PTO side crank seal question

So theres this bushing that rides on the crank and the seal rides on the bushing. Does it need to spin? How is a man to seal this? Looks like it might have some old dried up grease. I need to get a manual for this saw, cant find the one i had. I know where to go for that. The...

    Spooge VP premix oil

Sorry I said I would check on the spooge buildup and then lost/forgot about this thread. I checked the piston and muffler and it looks completely normal. Maybe too much oil? Off subject ... I build low key race cars sometimes (sleepers) E85 and turbos are fun, but E85 leaves behind...

Could I be pushing too hard on the file as well?

    Critique my chain too

Absolutely, i just dont know what I should be doing. A sharp chain is akin to good tires on a car. After a few drinks and a tiny bit of thought.. I should probably get one of these guides and start simple.. or at least before i destroy my chain? Any better guides?

    Philbert's Chain Salvage Challenge

Love this thread, been following it for a long time. Ordering my Oxalic Acid as a stocking stuffer :) I still suck at sharpening but this thread has been a great baseline of what things should look like. Im sure youre helping a lot of people that dont chime in

    Critique my chain too

Stihl files, lately ive been wiping them with a paper towel backwards to clean the file so metal doesnt build up. I know when to change a file when it doesnt feel like it bites consistently. I buy the plastic sleeve of 3 files at a time since it stores well in the toolbox without them getting...

    Critique my chain too

Just taking the pics and looking at them was an eye opener for me. Youre right, the chain would last all day in soft wood but when it came to oak i had to sharpen it every day (no smoke but cut like crap) In the last few months ive started getting some hang of sharpening. Still have a...

    Critique my chain too

I am kind of self learned and inexperienced but still hacking away at ~5 cords a year. Its hard to say 'if it cuts well' because I havent run other peoples saws. Worked for a tree service for a few years and tried to learn as much as i could. I use pur*le power degreaser (use it on...

Large area fire damage, buying saw mill for community? Mendocino fires

Ive come to realize other ways to help friends that have lost homes, this was a half baked idea once I realized the actual milling was only a small part of it. Yeah im in Potter Valley, more towards hwy 20 that didnt get hit. We were evacuated but didnt loose anything luckily. Manchester is...
