    Want to Buy CS-490: 18” or 20”?

I like to have two bars per saw, in case I get one pinched. I have a 20" for more reach when limbing or cleaning trails to save my back at 6'3". I don't think the 490 echo would handle this length well buried in oak all day if that is what you need. I also have a 16" for bucking rounds or...

    Sold Small Dolmars

I am interested in the broken 5105. I sent a PM. I am interested in the 421 as well, but I think I may save the funds this go around. If there is a bundled price, let me know. Thanks for your time.

    Sold Jonsered 2260 w/total bar

Hey Glenn, I have some questions that may spark more interest from me or others. What is the build date on this? What carb version is on the saw? What that little amount of time on the saw it may be hard to tell, but any hot start issues? With that little actual use, how was it stored...

    Sold Ported 2166

If it was a 2260 or a 2253 I may be interested (i think those are the 562 and 550 in red). I have been wanting to try a fancy autotune setup.

    Sold Ported 2166

Wow, I can't believe this hasn't sold yet. If I didn't have a ported 7910 that I rarely use I would be all over this. Seems like a wolf in sheep's clothing to me. Nothing but good things to say about the seller. Good luck!

Sharpening, finally at long long last

I have one for every chain size I own. I try to touch up the chain every tank or two. It gives me a break and keeps the saw running well. The more I use them the less I rotate my bar. Just make sure you still rotate regularly and keep the saw clean.

3 saw plan to 2 saw plan

maybe a lightly used, lightly ported 550 or 2253 from a major builder? What do you think the cost might be?

3 saw plan to 2 saw plan

I didn't realize the redmax gz5000 was the new jred. Same exact saw? Maybe a ported redmax gz5000 and my ported 7910 as a two saw setup? That would cover me from 16" to 32" bars. Two different mounts though. 16 and 20 for the redmax, and 24 and 32 for the dolmar? Any guys on here selling...

3 saw plan to 2 saw plan

Thanks guys! I like the 590 recommendation, but for about a pound less and significantly more power the ported 2260 would steal it's lunch and it's girlfriend. If a 60cc saw is going to be my big saw, I think I should be the best and most reliable saw I can find in the class. I know it will...

3 saw plan to 2 saw plan

I do not have a dealer around me. The guys on here give us good prices and I usually do the work. Sell all but the 5105 and port it? It has a 5100 muffler already and the top end is in great shape. Could it run a 24 skip tooth?

3 saw plan to 2 saw plan

Thanks for the replies. The reason for the 2260 was that it weighs about the same as the 5105 and handles better, and ported it runs close to the 372 stock at much less weight. The 2260 also gets me in the small mount which makes the bar lighter than the large bar mount. I consider my dolmars...

3 saw plan to 2 saw plan

Hi guys, I may be crazy, but I am thinking about changing up my saw plan. I live on 60 acres, mostly wooded. I do not heat with wood, mostly trail maintenance, bonfires, and occasional feeling for a portable sawmill. I find I never use my little stihl 181, I barely use my ported 7910, and...

Going to buy a new saw , just figuring on which one to get?

Sounds like selling the Stihl and grabbing a 562xp keeps you at a similar weight of the Stihl 310, but with the balls to pull a 32 when needed. You could even get a ported one with your savings from selling the Stihl. The 372 and 562 are pretty close in price .

Going to buy a new saw , just figuring on which one to get?

I think I would sell both and get a 50cc and a 70cc saw. Echo 490 and a 372 would be a cost effective combo. The echo is much lighter and complements the 372 better than the Stihl. Or sell both and get a 562xp, and borrow a 90cc saw on the rare occasion you need more power. I don't have one...

Place to buy Tsumura Bars? Online?

I have this exact bar on my dolmar 7910. 3/8, .050, 24". It has been great so far . Used it last weekend for some trail clean up. I got it from Nate @fordf150, and his service was great, and a great price for a great product. If you are going to get one bar, getting the second one at the same...

Stihl 170 New Purchaser (Probably) Questions, Please

I think Ed is onto something here. I havea a stihl 181, and I plan to downgrade to a 14" bar to have more power in the cut. If you use it infrequently, electric or a sawzall with a tree trimming blade may be better for your needs. If you are set on a chainsaw, I would consider the echo...

    The sharpening struggle is real

I agree with you, I am not sure which files made it into the Stihl vs Pferd, but my guess is that Stihl took the lowest cost bidder. The good news is, if you get bad files you can replace them with better ones. I think there are lots of good saw and tools, but I don't drink anyone's cool aid.

First Time Chain Saw Purchaser Questions

Instead of a chainsaw, why not one of these if you are in 6" or less wood. Taking care of a chainsaw is a PITA if you don't use it regularly. - If you have a sawzall -...

    Chaisaw Size Recommendation

Are you going to use the saw again? Why don't you rent a 64cc makita from Home Depot? You could run up to a 28" bar and chain on that saw and not have to buy another saw.... unless you want another saw. Those seen like good prices to me, if the bars are included, especially if that includes...

    The sharpening struggle is real

I too recommend the 2in1 sharpeners. I have 3 different setups, 1 for each of my chain sizes (3/8LP, .325, and 3/8). I touch up my chains everytime I refill the tanks. It is quick and easy, gives me a break from cutting, and gets the rakers at the same time. The non-stihl brands work just as...
