    Scrounging Firewood (and other stuff)

G'day fellers, Been a while since any scrounging done. Been too hot and cricket season takes up a lot of time. Got out to Mitch's today though for some peppermint. Used the 241 and 460 in about equal proportions. There's another ute load in it, might get back out there tomorrow if I...

I may be a month behind, but this post gave me a bit of a twitch in my jocks

I'm on my way but I'm 60 pages behind! Curse you all and your cast iron conversations!

Pretty warm today and I wasn't really feeling like it. But then I dried my eyes, stopped being a big girl and got out there. I took three more rounds off this end of the big peppermint at Will's. This was the last one and it was starting to get a bit punky in addition to the pipe up the...

You forgot about when you had to restack it because your stack fell over . You also get warm when you carry it inside because your wife is from the tropics and stuffs wood in as fast as you can get it.

Here he is. I actually don't mind them, but there's a bit of an instinctive response to big hairy things suddenly appearing in your vision. I'm also not so keen when they try to join in the marital festivities.

    Scrounging Firewood (and other stuff)

I was out to Mitch's the other day, working the logs from the big candlebark. A huntsman spider came out while I was cutting but I didn't worry too much. Then a few minutes later, I saw his legs hanging over the visor on my helmet, which thus became airborne. So he crawled up my pants, shirt...

Interesting. Never tried it. Is that a northern hemisphere thing? That looks like a european wasp. I had a pest controller as a patient a while back, got to know him pretty well and he taught me a fair bit about pests. Those ones curled up in your firewood are potential queens.

@kanga kuta , it's narrow leaf peppermint. I hope to get out again tomorrow and do a bit more before it gets too hot.

It is commonly used in 'gourmet' pet food here as well. Most people here won't eat it, not because it isn't good but they think it won't be any good. Some won't eat it because they think kangaroos are cute, some because it is on the national coat of arms. Just like most Australians won't use...

From the butcher. You're not allowed to kill them. Never mind that the gummint from time to time culls them from a helicopter when the numbers get too high

G'day fellers, I went back out to Will's today to pick up wood that I cut on Sunday. Splitting and loading only, hopefully I'll do more cutting this weekend. It is a bit daunting splitting rounds like this but it wasn't too bad. Here's one for the wildlife enthusiasts Got the ute and...

One time when Cowgirl was cranky at me about something I went with "Don't you think you're being just a little bit irrational"? She nearly fell over laughing  . Could have gone either way though

    Scrounging Firewood (and other stuff)

G'day fellers, It's day 2 of Cowboy trying to live on his own. 20 minutes in the Traeger with Super Smoke on then a couple of minutes either side on the BBQ I guess I'm surviving, but only just. I do have my personal food taster which is a plus. Now that's focus! Hand over the...
