    050 051 075 076 Info Thread

Thanks Rocky. I didnt check the ring gaps. Not sure if i want to pull the whole thing down again... have the 076 so might do the test with that. Will try a warm compression measurement as soon as i can get some time cutting. Dont suppose i can check the ring gap (at least one anyway) through...

    050 051 075 076 Info Thread

Hi All, Just to follow up. I had an 075 with a leaky case. Leaking from the oiler adjuster. Replaced the o-rings and it still leaked. Took out the oiler adjuster again to check the bore and to my great surprise one of the o-ring had broken. Haven't seen that much but it solved my problem so...

    050 051 075 076 Info Thread

Thanks Mate, I will have another look when I get home! Just spend a couple weeks in the US! I may have to oversize those o-rings and try? The leak I have seems to be worse as I change the oil too..... not sure which way was worse. Cheers Nathan

    050 051 075 076 Info Thread

Hey Rocky, I have an 075 which has an air leak from the oiler adjuster even after I replace the o-rings? Any ideas? I need to check the 'bore'. Also when I pressure test the crank case the oil gear pops out. Is that right? Cheers Nathan

    Leaky clutch side crank bearing

Ok so it looks like the oiler just spins and lets the worm pop out? Is this ok? Cheers Nathan

    Leaky clutch side crank bearing

Hi again, I have replaced the two o-rings in the oiler control knob. Still seems to leak here? Any one got any suggestions? The two o-rings I replaced are the 9646 945 0780 and 9646 945 049. The other thing is that when I pressurise the case the oiler drive worm pops out? This shouldn't...

    Leaky clutch side crank bearing

Ok so I have done some more testing and it looks like it is the seal on the selector for the bar oil. Couldn't hear exactly where it was coming from and when I got to the crank seals they were ok (soapy water test!) Any advice on this one? Haven't had a chance to look at pulling it out to see...

    Leaky clutch side crank bearing

Working on an 075, but think I have a similar problem on a few old saws here. Will see if I can find info on oil seals. Thanks Nathan

    Leaky clutch side crank bearing

Hi all. Probably a stupid question but if i have a leaky crank bearing do i have to crack the case to replace the bearing? Or is there a way i can seal it up without removing the crank? Cheers, Nathan

    050 051 075 076 Info Thread

Hi Guys, Posted a while ago about a Nova 2 on an 051 and have now had it running in the saw for a while. Looks like it is ok. Just for the record. Also have a couple of these 1111 series here with average compression ~140s. Is there a common cause? or can it be a number of things? I have new...

    The Beg for Manuals Thread

Hi All, Can someone please flick me the IPLs and Service Manual for the MS441. Also I assume that there are several of the same generation of saw which share plastic. Does anyone know which other saws in the Stihl range share plastic with the new 441? Had a mate drop a tree on his saw and want...

076 and 075 compression release sealing ring

Hi all, i am interested in whether someone with 076 experience can gove me an idea of the compression leak due to a poor or non existent sealing ring. Have a couple at 140s psi and bore piston etc looks ok. The sealing rings are a pain to get in australia as far as i can tell so want to know if...
