    I don't think that's the correct air filter cover, I'm pretty sure the right cover doesn't have an actual name plate, it should have "090" in raised letters, same as the Stihl letters on your engine cover.

    Check the fuel line, the piece that goes from the tank to the carb, if it's too long it can get kinked by the air filter.

    Yes, you need to modify the chain adjuster hole, a chain file works good.

    Cheers Vince mines the early model which only accepts the 106cc cyl, might have a used 070 piston/cyl lined up.

    Thanks again scallywag, don't know what happened to the original parts, I bought the saw minus all top end parts. Is there a trick to getting the clutch off? The nut is off but the clutch doesn't seem to budge. Cheers
