    Removal Permits

Our area has a lot of city regs concerning permitting for removals. When a permit is required, we have the homeowner obtain approval prior to removal. Curious about whether other services obtain permitting vs. asking homeowner to obtain. Does it change your answer when there is a cost involved...

    Do you accept credit cards?

We accept Square payments and online payments through our invoicing. Fees are about the same, 2-3 day wait is also standard. 2.5% with card swipe, 3.5% without card present. The fees stink, but the convenience makes our customers really happy and we get paid faster than if we had to wait on...

    Proximity to Parts & Service?

Hadn't thought of looking north :) We're in Marysville, so not too bad of a drive (assuming the border wait is decent)

If you are running solo or with one parttime help, how much do you bring home at the end of the day?

For those of you who have replied so far, are you considering tax money, insurance (workers' comp), gas, etc into your "take home"? We look pretty good on paper until we have to set aside 1/3 of our money for taxes and premiums. End up taking home around $2-400 actual profit at the end of the...

    Proximity to Parts & Service?

We're looking at our options for chippers and are trying to decide how important proximity is to us when it comes to parts and service dealers. The nearest Bandit dealer is over 500 miles away. Vermeer dealer is the closest at ~75 miles and Morbark is about 50 miles further. How much does this...

    Securing Orchard Ladder

Not saying I don't like the advice. Just saying that the only suggestion thus far has already occurred to me. Just looking to see if others have different ways of doing it. Certainly not against having a few loops welded on.

    Securing Orchard Ladder

Haha! I've birthed two children, so I don't think I qualify for a "man card," but my other half doesn't weld either. Guess it was in the same category that they put "how to write cursive" into. I wish they'd taught it!! I much prefer being able to do things myself.

    Securing Orchard Ladder

That's what we were thinking, but I figured I'd check to see if anyone else had a trick. We're needing it Friday, so I'm not sure if we'll have time to get ahold of a welder before then. I don't have any welding skills :)

    Securing Orchard Ladder

For those of you who keep your orchard ladder on top of your chip truck, how do you secure it? We have a topkick with a Southco mancab/dump body (old Asplundh truck) and there aren't any tethers to bungee to on top. Would love to hear what you do to keep your ladders from sliding around!

Where do you store your truck?

Where do you guys store your trucks if you don't have the space on your property? RV storage? Tow yard? Private land?

    Financing an older chip truck

In case someone stumbles on this thread, we did end up finding someone who would finance it for us...at 36%?!? So we ended up taking a personal loan at 8.5% with a payment agreement between ourselves and our LLC. It was a pain in the a$$ but new businesses get no love from the banks...

    Financing an older chip truck

The bank won't finance anything older than a 2009.

    Financing an older chip truck

Good morning! We recently started our tree service and are finding it challenging to purchase a chipper truck that isn't less than 7 years old. We're currently looking at a 17 year old truck in good condition as a starter and aren't finding many options aside from rip-off leasing contracts in...

    Climbing pants

We really like the Duluth Firehose Briar pants. They have a built in section in the crotch that allows for stretching with reinforcement in the areas that get the most wear.

Converting a dumper to a chip truck

I don't know that we have the time or skills necessary to complete that and have it look professional. We want it to be metal and look consistent with the current body. Any idea what a fabricator would charge?

Converting a dumper to a chip truck

We are looking to purchase a chip truck but are finding limited options in our area. Has anyone converted a dump bed to a chip truck by having a top fabricated for the box ? The trucks we are looking at would have a 10 to 12 foot bed and I'm trying to get an idea on cost. Thanks!
