Why I Won't Plant A Tree On Arbor Day This Year

We do an educational experience for every 4th grader in town as part of the tree planting/park upgrade event. My boss and coworkers lobbied the city and parks department, as well as the other tree and landscape companies in town to donate time/funding to start it 15 years ago. I do not...

No PPE and bar is going to be in a bind!

4" bar max. Anything larger would be threatening. Also teeth are dangerous. Smooth chains with no sharp or scary bumps. The solution to any problem is the appropriate application of targeted mockery.

    Chipper engines

We ran a inline 6 cylinder Ford gas motor in our 12" vermeer. Had plenty of power, and very reliable. IMO put the biggest motor that will fit in your engine compartment. No Regerts.

Isnt that how it works? You wait for an 880...

Got my 880 like new from a pawn shop. $1100 w/4' bar It was in the pawn because it was too big for the original owner, and the chain was ridiculously dulled.

Milling unknown wood into a block

Googled sugar maple bark, and scrolled. Not saying it's definitive, but it doesn't look like Red to me. We don't get alot of sugar maple here, but I've got several reds out in my pile.

500i is the happiest saw ever

What is the best method to repair stripped threads in plastic?

I've had good luck heating up screws and tapping new threads with it.

500i is the happiest saw ever

We had a tractor tied to it with 3/4 bull line, but it gave up before we even tensioned the rope.

500i is the happiest saw ever

Ok, so the 500i runs a 32" skip just fine. Might not power through tough trees at that length, but it was comparable to the 462 we stole the bar from. On a side note, the big cottonwood I had to try it in, was rotten, and collapsed before we started the backcut. Glad we had the powerline dropped.

They were, but he needs a 1/256 file to get it cutting again. Anyone know where to order some?

what size bar are you running? It came with a 25", which feels small. I put a 32" with skip chain on it (hand me down from a 462) Feels like a sluggish, dogfaced pony soldier now. We chew alot of softer stuff, ash and locust are the toughest, poplar and pine 50% of the time.
