How do you protect fresh tattoos in a tree?

So update (though I doubt anyone's too, too worried :D) We're doing monster pines this week and all seems well. It definitely got ****ed up where my high vis rubs up on it, but hey I have a touch up coming up. Anyone in the same boat, just plop a bandage over any part that's gonna cause...

    Climbing in Poison ivy???

There is this stuff called timber wolf that does provide protection. It is also sun block and insect repellant. It feels greasy and ******, but it works well. If you lather yourself up with that and try to do the job quickly, you could hose off immediately after with dial soap. The key to...

Yea, our company's forester has tasked us with enlarging our right of ways from 15 to 45-60 feet, ground to sky. It's a pretty ferocious job considering our 4 man crew is the only one working on it; we are going to be stuck on this line at least until the end of year. Good job security to be...

    wedging over trees

Yea in that context I can absolutely see the merits of using wedges. I guess it's pretty context dependent. A logging operation isn't next to a priceless deck or low slung powerlines usually.

    wedging over trees

When our crews drop stubs in the right of ways, wedges are generally used when the feller has made the smallest hinge possible, and can't push it over. Basically it's your safety backup if the ****er refuses to fold. Honestly, nobody I work with has bend brazen enough to say 'look here, I'm...

How do you protect fresh tattoos in a tree?

My left tit and shoulder are raw meat from a 8 hour sit in the chair yesterday. I'm mildly worried about work on monday. cellophane? under armor sleeve? hope for the best?

    Worst mistake you've made?

I'm a baby climber so there will surely be more **** ups soon ^^. The worst thing so far was climbing with a loose chain and having a chunk of wood get tightly stuck between my chain and bar when cutting a medium sized limb. Also was not wearing spikes and was using a bull rope as a saw lanyard...

First post guys, whoop whoop. I have been non aggressively climbing rec without spikes for about a year and have been working at a transmission tree company since march. I was recently transferred to a climbing crew (finally) and have to say it's a lot of fun romping around in rough terrain...
