OK,WHAT IS YOUR MOST DEPENDABLE FIREWOOD SAW?

    036. Had it since '92 and have not even had to tune it up. Runs flawlessly. Cuts 2 to 3 cords every year.

    New 036

If it is an actual 036 and not the 036 pro, it will slightly outcut the 361 and weighs less. My 036 is 12.1 lbs empty and was rated by the factory in their literature at 4.6 hp. They are screamers.

    32 inch bar on 044

Around here the 32" bar is the defacto for the 044 in fir. All our saws come with the high-output oiler and the saw has plenty of power for all the commercial fallers to make a living with the 32" set-up.

    The perfect firewood saw

Sounds like the original 036 was not too far off the spec. The 044 was right on, just a tad few ounces more... I also have to say that the 066 makes a fine firewood saw.

    best power to weight

for the 60 to 70 cc range I think this is spot on. Of note, the original 066 had an even better power to weight ratio. Granted it is not in the 60 to 70 cc range but I think it was one of the best power to weight ratios of any saw when it first came out. Something like 7.7 hp at 16.1 lbs...

    Husky 390 or 395?

Can you go for a little drive to get a better deal on the Stihl MS 660? If so, you will have a "395" packaged in a "390" size saw. All the features of the 390 (minus the air filtration) with a bit more torque and HP (especially with a dual port muffler). I think the 660 may even be a tad...

    What's the difference between a Stihl 036 and a 036Pro?

036 has no decomp, is a few tenths of a pound lighter (mine is 12.1 pounds), makes 4.6 hp vs 036 pro at 4.4 hp, has the older style floc filter. Both have adjustable oilers. 036 isa good runner. I still have mine, bought new in '91 and it runs like a top. If you can find a good condition...

    STIHL 192 or echo 330t? Stihl br420 or 600?

192 and 600 are the way for you to go. If you are doing serious treework then spring for the MS200T. Nothing else comes close.

    What Trimmer to buy?

I'm curious if you use one of those three bladed brush cutters with your FS250 for the thick grass and heavy weeds. I've been toying with getting one for my FS250. I run the heavy string but it breaks more frequently than I'd like. I've never run a metal blade on my trimmer and just thought I'd...

    What Trimmer to buy?

Great choice in the FS100. My buddy has the FS90 and absolutely loves it. Great torque and semi quiet. I got the FS 250 with teh bike handle, because I have a large lot and a lot of heavy weeds/brush. I love it. I never tried my buddy's FS90 before I got the FS 250, I probably should have. I...

Seeking Opinions For Best Small Saw

Like the man said: MS200 or MS200T (especially if you ever think you will be in a tree). Nothing compares and they are built to last. I run mine with a 16" bar because I do a lot of takedown work. That or a 14" will be right in the sweet spot for everything you would want to do. Once you've...

MS440 coming back???? 441 going away...

Need This Like a Headache Already got a nice lineup of saws but since it is coming back, I figure I better pick one up while I can. Besides, the old 036 is getting tired and I need to get another all around saw. Much prefer the 044 to a 361 or 362, since it weighs about the same as the 362...

The age old question. What log splitter to buy.

Anyone ever use or own the TW7? It looks pretty slick with the box wedge. I imagine that production would be very high and certainly nice uniform splits. Now if I could just come up with the $9,000 to $10,000 it would cost to get this with the log lift and table grate....

Ok.. so what is the best saw?....

MS 261, if I had one. My old 036 was my go to saw for almost 20 years. Now that I have my MS 200T, I use it for most of my cutting (but I'm up a tree a lot). If I was always working on the ground, a MS 261 or 036 would suffice for 90 percent of the work I do, even limited felling activities...

    My new MS660R

In addition to the handle and the extended chip deflector, they also come stock with the high-output oiler when you get the wrap option. The oiler helps if you pull a longer bar (i.e. 42") as is common out West.

    Teupen Spider Lift is awesome!

    Can't find the right splitter!!!

For that volume and size of wood you should look at the Timberwolf TW-5, TW-6, or TW-7. For my money I would go with the TW-7, especially with that size wood. Get a log grate and a log lift and you will be set for production. You'll find you spend far less time per cord and that means money...

    121cc's more to the collection

Try sliding the thing on with some gasoline. Works great and will glue the rubber to the handle once the gas evaporates.
