    Husqvarna 55 base gasket delete?

More is better.... Ok, maybe not always but in this case... I think I was a little disappointed with the compression number on my saw with the good cylinder being the same as the saw with the scored cylinder. This left me with the impression that perhaps the combination of parts (base gasket...

    Husqvarna 55 base gasket delete?

How much squish should there be? I believe this is measured by placing a piece of solder on top of the piston and rotating over by hand? I sanded the living crap out of the scored cylinder (shouldn't have done that...) but simply stuffed the new piston and ring into the cylinder that was not...

    Husqvarna 55 base gasket delete?

Tell me about the base gasket delete on a Husqvarna 55.... Ok, instead, tell me about the relationship between the thickness of a base gasket and the cylinder compression reading. The tale of two Husqvarna 55's One I had since new and decided to refresh the piston and ring with a Meteor Piston...

    Restoring Soviet Saw

Thought it interesting where at the 1:00 mark he pulled the throttle out of the carburetor. I have a very similar design on a British Seagull boat motor. I pulled that boat motor out of the Fraser River where it had been sitting in the water for 4 months, took it apart, cleaned it up and got...

    Pressure/vacuum tester alternative suggestions

Much like my Husqvarna 55 worm gear puller made from $4.00 in plumbing parts, looking for a similar one/two time use suggestion for a pressure/vacuum tester for the same husqvarna 55 saw. I would just like to repair this saw and move on to other things and don't see the point in investing in a...

    Base Gasket Delete Gone Wrong?

I'm in the exact same boat with a Husqvarna 55 right now with a base gasket delete. Idle is very high, high and low carburetor adjustment screws do nothing as well as the idle adjustment. No vacuum/pressure test (don't have those tools) No idea if the thing ever ran right as I got the saw with...

    circlips... ??

The saw revs as high as a Husqvarna 55 air injection revs... Not sure what that is... I ended up reusing the OEM clips. I didn't orientate them in any particular direction. If the case is compelling enough, it isn't much to tear the saw down again and change them. Somewhere it has an air leak...

    circlips... ??

Lots of chatter about aftermarket vs. OEM circlips. What say you? received my Meteor piston in the mail today from HL supply New clips on the right, old clips on the left. Am I better off reusing the OEM clips, or stuffing in the aftermarket clips?

husqvarna 55 "Air Injection" ignition module gap

Why can't I set the gap on my ignition coil and have it stay in position? Husqvarna 55 Air Injection. 5099014-01 ignition module I set the gap using a business card, small washers whatever... (specification is for 0.3mm?) Tighten the coil down, spin the flywheel around a couple times to ensure...

Think you know how to start a saw?

Even after you learned to run it safely, if you took a video of yourself running a saw and post it on the internet, there will still be a dozen guys queuing up to tell you that your doing it wrong. There will never be a shortage of critics. Aside from the "throw start" I have done everything...

Three used saws to chose from, all the same price. What one?

I'd sure like to know where you fellas are finding the cheap saws. Everyone around here think they are all sitting on a pot of gold. All three of those saws I listed, they are asking $120-$125 and one of them needs work.... Edit: I don't mind getting my hands a bit greasy. Have the aptitude...

Three used saws to chose from, all the same price. What one?

I should say this would be the second saw. I have a Husqvarna 55 that has served me faithfully for 20 years for planned cutting needs. Looking for an inexpensive "cheepie" to shove in the pickup dry box for branches and dead fall across the trail. Was even eying a homelite super mini... Dear...

Three used saws to chose from, all the same price. What one?

I have my choice of three "homeowner" saws in the local rag. All three are the same price. What one does a guy go for and why?

Someone was a little close to water...

Probably wasn't fresh clear water.... Looking more like silty salt water... I pulled a British Seagull boat motor out of the Fraser River. Had been in there for three months or so. Certainly didn't look like that on the inside... "build" thread here...

$20 Pawn Shop MS261 Pipe Saw!!!!!

I'm going to say the guy that cobbled that contraption together was in commercial construction. Or at least connected somehow. Looks to be a piece of steel stud and those screws are definitely something that would be used in framing with steel...

    Cleaning silicone off case halves???

You should find a one gallon jug of parts washer cleaner. As in the parts washer solvent you would find in your local vehicle service garage. I have found that solvent softens and to some extent dissolves silicone gasket maker. Makes removal much easier. edit: Soak the area with parts washer...
