I usually spread a little grease on the plastic mounting flange of the filter, this helps alot, but doesn't completely eliminate the dust.

tips for removing piston pin clips? needle nose slips!

I'm having trouble moving the clip to the notch in the piston. I'll try some other tools maybe a pair of dykes. Any tips for inserting the new ones, and tapping out the pin. The pin looks straight but I've heard the bearing under neath is tapered, should you always remove from the left or...

tips for removing piston pin clips? needle nose slips!

:dizzy: Any tips for removing and installing c clips on the rist pin. They dont have two holes like some I have seen, so specialized pliers will not work. This is on my dolmar 7900 conversion. I bought the ring compressors for $5 and it has a plate to hold the piston and a white plastic tool...

    7900 Intake Port

I have removed the casting edges on the base transfers and cleaned up a little junk with a file and have done a muffler mod. Now I'm just waiting for a long T-27 wiah tool from baileys. I don't trust the stock tool. Don't want to bring it to a machine shop with stripped heads on the bolts. I...

    Makita 6401 Big Bore kit??

did you buy a special T-27 long reach tool or use the stock one in the kit, it looks like it may jump and mess up the bolts and require a machine shop to fix it. Baileys has a T handle but I have been told you need a ratchet drive and torque wrench. I want to do this conversion this week but...

Saw will be wearing a 28" bar for felling large trees only part time. When the wood is down it will wear a 20" bar and chain 85% of the time for bucking.

Anyone use never-seize on cylinder or muffler bolts?

I looked at sears.com and don't see a bit that will fit through the narrow cylinder holes all the way to the bottom and any extension would be to wide The height under the cylinder fins combined with the case prevents using the small bit with a 1/4 inch drive socket. Is this only common on...

SUCKBACK? New saws sold in other countries not having a spark arrestor?

I would like to leave out the spark arrestor screen on my 7900 muffler mod for better flow and I am worried about the mythical suckback of foreign objects getting digested by cylinder and piston, but most new saws sold in other countries do not have them installed. I know you need them in the...

Anyone use never-seize on cylinder or muffler bolts?

Seeing how these steel bolts thread into aluminum and magnesium does anyone use never-seize on the threads. Would loctite be necessary on cylinder bolts, I was a little worried my stock tool T-27 might not be strong enough if I used even the temporary (blue) loctite and I might strip the head...

Do you have to check ring end gap? assembly questions HELP!!

Won't this effect timing and I would need to raise or lower the ports to get the timing correct? I think I might skip losing the base gasket.

Do you have to check ring end gap? assembly questions HELP!!

I have a dremel and an air grinder. I would probably feel more comfortable with a dremel have adjustable speeds. 1. Should I use a stone, or the rubber wheel with 60grit of 120grit rolls of paper. 2. And how do I bevel the inside of the jub at the ports so the ring will not snag?

Do you have to check ring end gap? assembly questions HELP!!

maybe I will practice on the 6401 jug blending, its in fine shape but I would rather mess up the old jug its only going to be a spare and collect dust. I should also lube the piston, pin and cylinder with straight 2 stroke oil too Right?
