    Falling pics 11/25/09

How do you explain this, then? 1959 with a log from the Copper Canyon area on Vancouver Island destined for the Kew Gardens in England to serve as a flagpole. It was 225' long and stood for many years before being replaced. Wood rot and woodpecker damage took their toll over the years. And...

Ran across this young woman faller who seems competent as well as being easy on the eyes too. Not all fallers are big hairy men. LOL Take care.

George Murchison and a decent Spruce up in what is now called Haida Gwaii back in the 60's. When I worked at Eden Lake in 86-87 there was a stump next to the tire shop you could park a pickup truck on. I recall someone telling me it was 17' across. Take care.

Old Logging Pics From Vancouver Island........

This is from the Woss area north of Campbell River and shows a dump truck being moved across a valley on a skyline. And this one shows a railway trestle being constructed many years ago in the same area. This area was logged by Canfor over many years and was the last operating railway logging...

Some Recent Carvings From Our Annual Competition..

Here are a few photos by old friend Karen Wasilenchuk taken last week. This uses the grain well. Octopus A winged Griffin. JR Henderson ink. I went to high school with this guy's Dad many years ago. Those tats are all family and clan related and it took a few sessions to get like that. I...

Gold River Logging circa 2008........video by Paul Laviolette

Ran across this so thought I'd throw it up here. I worked at the Gold River Logging Division from 1969 to 1973 and boy, were things different then. Grapple yarding was just coming in and almost all our machines were line-types rather than the prevalent hydraulic oriented ones used today. Never...

Nice family. Bit of an over-reaction but what the heck. Come visit in August and I'll take you out for a shot at a Tyee. Just a hint though, don't use the word "Squaw" around here or you might get tuned up fairly quickly. Only conservatives and anal orifices use that name these days, Your...

Seriously doubt my actions will make you appreciated at all. Certainly not by anyone who matters anyway. LMAO You nutty teachers crack me up. Take care.

    Show us your stumps!

Lots of stumps that size in Alaska?? Let's see some then. "Weak sauce" doesn't cut it I'm afraid. And your lack of an actual sense of humour made you seem like a "conservative". Glad you're not one, I guess. And I actually do troll for salmon, but we call them Tyee here when they are over 30...

    Show us your stumps!

You asked this question: "Do you have any pictures of what you have done?" You asked this after I had posted a picture of a big stump. I did that because I knew I was in a "Show us your stumps!" thread. I also noted I was not involved in creating that stump, giving some information, yet you...

    Show us your stumps!

Are you asking for pictures of what I have done in the area of creating stumps? Seems a rather strange request, although when I worked power saw spacing plantations back in the 70's I made thousands of stumps, all between four and eight inches in diameter, and none with any laterals left on...

    Show us your stumps!

Those are cute little stumps some of you have shown in this thread. Here's a recently created stump next to my pal Peter's house, next to Painters Lodge. I wasn't witness to this, but apparently they had to go up that far to find decent wood in order to cut it safely. Cut in sections and...

    lets see them motorcycles

One of my fishing pals is a motorcycle enthusiast and has a couple of scooters, including this fairly new to him one. Many dollars spent on chroming this custom job, but Joey got a good deal on it so snagged it from the builder. It's got "biatch bars" on it now plus he has a little seat that...

How About Something Different, Dirt Track Oval on a Saturday Night :)

I watched my first dirt track race in 1955 at Quesnel, on the long weekend of July 1st. As a 10 year old it was great entertainment for me watching all the old Jalopies roar around with any number of spin-outs and several roll-overs too. The next year my Dad crewed for a young kid from Surrey...
