Is "Bar-Oil" made for *Suckers* ??

WOW: It seems that I must break down the *tongue and cheek* comments for those who obviously cannot comprehend a simple joke. First off, lets just get one thing very clear right up front. For all you guys spending the time to look up my bio, I've got a wife, I'm not looking for a...

Is "Bar-Oil" made for *Suckers* ??

It's not really as much being cheap as there just seems to be a better way to keep a bar lubricated instead of consuming so much of anything. It's not the price that is the principle. I just know that we *spray* chain lube (very tacky) on our motorcycle chains and wonder why that same...

Is "Bar-Oil" made for *Suckers* ??

Hear me out on this one. I had just finished cutting approx 10 cords of wood. For simplicity's sake, I have my bar oiler set to exactly equal a full tank of gas...(i.e. I consume exactly the same amount of bar oil as fuel per tank). At nearly $8.00 a gall for "Stihl" bar oil, I can't help...

If you only want ONE saw, this is it...(w/pics).

Its all about compatibility!!!. Remember, we mostly have much smaller trees to cut..(4''-8''). Anything larger than that is rare to find. Sure, I could have "stepped-up" and bought the 361, but then I could have "stepped-up" to a 440, and then a 660, and then a 880, and then a backhoe...

Yea, I think the Dolmar 7900 or the Stihl ms361 would also be a perfect "one" saw for most people. Of course there is the exceptions....(most everyone here!), but for the average woodcutter using it for felling a wide range of trees ,but nothing too large, they all would be perfect *One* saws...

If you only want ONE saw, this is it...(w/pics).

Nope, none at all but the ground was very wet which may explain the browner color in the middle. BTW, I had a local saw shop grind down the rakers on my chain which really makes this saw cut even faster. I can definitely feel a slight kickback when I hit a knot or a hard spot so I keep a...

If you only want ONE saw, this is it...(w/pics).

If you only want to own a single chainsaw, the Dolmar 5100 may possibly be the perfect "all around" saw. Why?, because it is not too heavy (@ 11 lbs-ish) to be easily used for limbing, while still having plently of power (@ 4 hp) to cut down larger sized trees. This saw may possibly also...

Thanks for the info and link to the stump burn stuff; I'll give it a try.

Hey Stihlman: Anyway to totally remove that stump short of using a backhoe or stump grinder?. I've heard of some type of "stump rotter" in which you drill holes into the left over stump and pour some type of liquid into it to promote the stump to decay very quickly. "Very quickly" is of...

Answer/pics to the "how much wood is this" thread.

Hi cityboy: Many people believe that we have a similar temp to Flagstaff and while thats partially true during the day, it's not uncommon for us to be 25* colder at night due to a remote location and quite a bit higher. We are on the side of a much higher mountain.

Butcher: I know you think of most of Arizona as deathly hot; it is!!. However, we live in a very rare location on top of a mountain in the middle of the desert. If you look at the USA today weather report for the day, or virtually any week in the summer months, "Bellemont" AZ (just a few...

Red: copy and paste the URL address and then put img in brackets (next to the letter "P") in front of the adress, and /img in brackets after it before you post it. This way, the pic will come right up with no need to download an attachment

Here you go. Mrs Hunky and I are very proud of it as it took us three years to build it; much of it ourselves. BTW, the "hunky-wagon" pictured is a VW Jettta TDI Wagon. Not exactly a traditional muscle car, but at 50+mpg, it flexes a little bit different muscle!. We call it our little...

I've been told that they cannot survive and do not live here due to the elevation (near 8000ft) and the very cold winters. I'm not sure if it's true, but I have never heard of any problems here or seen any.

I thought a few of you may be curious as to exactly how much wood my truck was holding after I had cut and stacked it. To be honest, I still don't know, [probably should have paid more attention in math class instead of climbing out the window!]. Anyway, once again, here is a pic of the...

Wismer: Many off roaders like the Maxxis Bighorns best as they are a radial tire (super-smooth on the road) and have incredible off road traction with lugs on the side walls. BTW, to post a pic and have it come up without having to click on the attachment, do the following. Step one...

One of the things I like doing best is going through the archived posts and checking out all the different pics of peoples log haulers, firewood piles, chainsaws, race saws, log splitters and anything to do with cutting wood. I have learned a lot in a very short time and many of the pics I...
