Yes, I know the mandrel you're using. Did you drill the hole, with a 10mm bit? ----

Stihl 044 suddenly stalls, but only under load

I'm not sure what those questions mean, Chevy. But it runs just fine out of the wood...no burbling. Then, in the wood it runs great for like 3 seconds, and then abruptly dies. I let it rest 1 second, and can take off again for 3 more seconds of cutting.

Stihl 044 suddenly stalls, but only under load

At full throttle, it runs clean. No burbling...I know what that means...so I guess it's lean. "muffler ports"...should I just replace my muffler...they are cheap I'd assume.

Stihl 044 suddenly stalls, but only under load

I don't know the RPM that it's tuned to. It runs great, and steady out of the wood.

Stihl 044 suddenly stalls, but only under load

It behaves consistantly when warm. Rips into the log great, and in 3 seconds, stalls. I can save it from killing if I back off on the throttle instantly... Then, i can go back to cutting for another 3 seconds. Perahaps a cracked fuel line?

Stihl 044 suddenly stalls, but only under load

Where do I find my clutch spring in the saw? Is it easy to replace?

Stihl 044 suddenly stalls, but only under load

Runs fine when cold. As soon as it gets warm, it stalls when I put it under load. It runs great at full throttle in the air. It runs great at half throttle in wood. It's when I give it full throttle in wood, that it stalls within 3 seconds. I replace the spark plug. I replace the air...

    what about electric splitters????

Yeah, is that 60 ton accurate, for a 3hp? If that's the case, I wonder what my 5hp here, is crankin' out?

    Electric splitters????

The pumps are either 22 or 24 gal/min....pretty sure 22. I've got a pressure gauge inline also, and it bypasses at about 1250....and even tho the wedge goes thru most that I throw at it, it would still get stuck in tuff crotches. So, just last week, I increased it to 2000, and of course it's...

    Electric splitters????

I have pumps on both the electric side, and the gas side, so to switch between the two, I simply move one hydraulic hose with a quick connect. 22 gal. pumps.

    Electric splitters????

Yes, if built properly, electric splitters are awesome. I had one custom built for me. Gas on one side, Electric on the other: 220v, 5hp, running a 4" cylinder....against a 4 way wedge at times. Chomps everything.

How do I get the most $ out of a Cherry log

Thanks for the feedback, Tim. i forgot about the numbering of the slices, and offering them book/color matched...thanks for the reminder. Good stuff.

How do I get the most $ out of a Cherry log

Perhaps the reason is that veneer log buyers don't want to waste their time on 1 or 2 logs.

    what about electric splitters????

I am suprised, however, that the elec. side isn't as quite as I expected. Moving hydro fluid thru pipes and hoses, under that much pressure, still creates significant noise. Still...not anything like the gas engine.
