The old girl is almost 4 years old. I was also using the Woodland Pro synthetic oil, which they said contributed to the destroyed seals - fortunately no metal damage - so back to the Stihl oil. Other than needing carbon removal, the engine is in good shape.

Figured I'd update... Well I just got my 130 back from the shop yesterday. The clutch spring, clutch, and the bearings had to be replaced. Also needed 2 engine seals replaced too.

Overall its a good, reliable machine. I have used the heck out of mine but it's holding up pretty good for the most part and takes a beating.

I would see if you could get a IPL for that saw, it would show if there were different or optional part numbers if you wanted to switch from a tool-less to a traditional tensioner.

I was gonna say good gas and oil, but that could be it too. I mix anywhere between 1 and 5 gallons at a time, use synthetic oil, and try to use the stuff in a short amount of time. If it gets too long it gets dumped in the truck. I haven't had a carbon problem with my equipment either.

That is all I need to see to determine that this is a bad idea.

I leave bar oil in the tank, it's not going anywhere anytime soon. Mix I will drain it and then run until empty. I do not keep mix around for more than a month tops. If it gets old I dump it in the truck. Preferably I would only keep it for a week but sometimes you need a lot and sometimes...
