    Stihl carb problems

Hey Guys, Got an issue with a couple saws, both 250 's. They sat most of the summer and when they were got out to use, they stumbled off idle. Dried out from sitting I"m guessing. So I put a kit in both like I usually do, and now they start and run decent but don,t really change much when I...

    044 muffler mod

sure, makes sense. if u take each wire and lay them side by side next to each other, thats the amount of blockage they would have. lot more than a guy would think!

    044 muffler mod

Well that sounds like a good plan! whats the worst that could happen! Have to buy a new muffler OR a new saw! BUMMER!Been thinkin bout a 660! I know the 440 is way to restricted so im sure i will do something with it eventually. Ive been messin with the 044 because i run it everyday and...

    044 muffler mod

Sorry Bounty Hunter I enjoy readin, writin' not so much! I guess what i was tryin to say was the 044 muffler had a hole in it already the size it should be. By my math anyway! (math is always up for debate!) Heres what I figured. exhaust port 1.125" X .750"= .84" x .8(80%)=.672" hole, does...

    044 muffler mod

Ok so I have been readin up on cuttin up a muffler for my 044 but i have a question. It has a fairly large exhaust hole in it already(roughly .720"). Seems to me that goin by the 80% rule, that i'm already at full size. My 440 on the other hand has a SMALL exhaust hole in it and maybe that...

    Chipper motor replacement

It is a 1979ish ford Industrial 172 4 cyl. I was trying to stay away from a rebuild because of chasing down parts and if a guy could swap it out easy enough i would do that. Im sure the motor is a mess so im tryin to figure out a upgrade.

    Chipper motor replacement

It may need more than just head work, I was just hopin' for guides. I think it would be easier to find a different motor, but one with a PTO I'm not sure about. Just lookin for a ford guru that may be able to tell me about it. Seems I find a lot of stuff for an 8N that SHOULD fit but who wants...

    Chipper motor replacement

Last fall I purchased a Asplundah Chipper 12" I believe. After I got it home come to find out there was no air filter in the filter housing. I have put about 20 hours on it and it goes through about a gallon of oil an hour and a set of plugs every 10-15 hours. I think I would like to put a...

    Asplundh Chipper Anvil ?

OK, That is the answer I was eexpecting and it makes perfect sense! I was pretty sure that was how it SHOULD be in there. I did check out the wear bar and 1 edge was new, 2 were slightly worn, and the one that was bein' used had about a 1/4 inch radius(very worn).I have been an industrial mech...

    Asplundh Chipper Anvil ?

I didn't think I did a very good job of explaining it. You are correct about the adj. bolts and jam nuts under the blade. The blade has a replacable wear bar in it I don't know if it is supposed to face the in-feed or the chip chute. It bolts a spot in the blade that amounts to about2/3rds of...

    Asplundh Chipper Anvil ?

It seemed to chip good, never really being around one it seemed ok. The small green stuff it bent up more than it 'chipped' so I figured it needed adjusted. It had about .200" clearace so I know it was needing adjusting. It just seems to me that you would want the support of the blade below and...

    Asplundh Chipper Anvil ?

Ok guys, so I ended up buying the chipper I asked you all about. I have done a bunch of work to it and have gotten it running pretty darn good. ropensaddle thought it was a chipmunk. I used it for about 3 hours the other day and it ran great. Now that it is running good I pulled out the anvil to...

    Asplundh Chipper

Simple. Thats what I kindof thought. I don't need anything to special, just something to keep from having to load brush into the dumptruck by hand. I don't mind loadin' the firewood size stuff, it stacks, and if it is decent hardwood I sell it as firewood. Since i am just startin' into the tree...

    Asplundh Chipper

It has a 4 cyl. ford in it and if I remember correctly the drum is about 12 inches across. It does not seem to be a very big unit. Everything is free and turns. The guy has another chipper sittin' there with the 330 in it, but the radiator in it is empty and the oil pan is full(runnin' out the...

    Asplundh Chipper

Hey guy's, I'll see if you can help me. I found a chipper about half an hour away from me. It is an Asplundh w/serial numbers of JEX9388. it has been sittin' for a while and it don't know much about it. I couldn't find a model or size on the machine. do the serial numbers mean anything to...
