By the sounds of it, you have the syncro-shift transmission, not the powershift. Can you post a picture of the shifter/dash area? I'm not sure it can be driven in the same manner as the powershift.

Technically, the XP hasn't arrived yet...The 288 has been sent to landing duty. The XPW is wicked...used strictly for felling/light trimming, the fuel usage isn't as bad as I thought...it also rips pretty good. Definately out cuts the dual port 660 mag with a 24" bar (tested in 25"+ hard maple)...

There is a limiter in the carb. If you look on the side of it, you'll see a big brass screw. Usually, it is blocked off with a piece of aluminum (think pop can etc.).
