    Dolmar 5100s, ms260, or husky 353?

I have a 5100 that I use for limbing, but I have used it for larger stuff. It cuts really well, plenty of power (18" bar 3/8 chain). A bigger saw will give you more flexibility if you need to cut something bigger. I have a couple 7900's that I can use as limbing saws( they are light with a 20"...

Good choice, run some good synthetic oil and it will last for a long time.

CAD bit hard and an 880 followed me home

Nice saw, Thats exactly where the big saw shines, blocking and splitting big wood. I have a 066 DP which cuts very well, but for blocking and splitting the big stuff, the 880 is much faster. The extra weight actually becomes an advantage as well as the extra torque. Those logs look like the...

    Got enough $ to buy a MS880...

For big wood it will outcut a 660/395 easily. Good forcutting and splitting big rounds that are too heavy to move. The sound is awesome. (big block 2 stroke) Also you could think of it as an investment, production of the big saw could stop soon and used MS880's bring a lot of money on Ebay...

    Changes to Stihl for 2010

I asked my local stihl dealer about 2010 regulation effects on stihl. He said none of their big pro saws will be effected until 2012. The 361 will become a 362 and some of the smaller saws will go away, while some will be strato-charged. He says he got his info from a conference at Va. beach...

    7 or 8 pin?

I occasionly use a 32" bar on my 066 in hardwood. It runs better with the 7 pin sprocket.

    Senior Moment With Bar Lube!

Pull the plug, put the choke on, pull the saw over until you get a good shot of fuel in the jug. Let it evaporate for a while, replace the plug and start saw as normal.

    660 filter kit

There was a thread on here some time ago with documentation of air flow thru various filter setups. I think just removing the outer cover off the stock stihl hd filter system flowed as much or more air as the high flow kit. You would have to check your filter more often because the outer cover...

    Stihl MS880 Magnum ?

Heavy, expensive, but if you are bucking a lot of BIG wood it does very well what it was designed to do. (I won't make you feel bad and tell you that the 066 should handle a 36" bar with skip chain in hardwood)

stihl 066 how big a bar??

I have run my 066 (dp muffler) in white oak with a 32" bar and full comp chain. It does really well. Like Andy said anything much bigger I grab the 880.

    Best Chain and Chain Sharpener

Have you guys tried Oregon LGX chain yet? Very sharp and seems to hold its edge.

    well I did it

Mine cuts very well with 3/8 x .50 chain with either a 16 or 18" bar. The saw is strong enough to use an 18" bar buried in hard wood. I use the 16" for limbing. 066 MAG 2 PS7900'S PS 5100

    MS 460 Dual Port Muffler

Dual port mufflers allow the saws to breath better. You will need to bump the fuel up a bit (lots of info on site about that) It did notably increase the power of my 066. Also it allows the saws to get rid of heat better which will allow the saw to last longer.
