    Firewood drying "pad"?

Vibes, you have a good point, I am not completely new to firewood. I started my own buisness mowing lawns 7 years ago, and two years ago I decided to sell firewood to keep busy in the winter. I am selling cords now for $225, I don't know how that compares to PA. I am in my last year of school...

    Firewood drying "pad"?

Yah, I'll look around. This project is a couple years down the road anyway, so I will have plenty of time for shopping. They have public state auctions here every so often as well, I'lll look there too.

    Fire wood Kilns

Here's that site, http://www.fpl.fs.fed.us/documnts/fplrn/fplrn254.pdf You'd probably be the only guy in your area offering Kiln Dried Firewood I have seen one guy in the newspaper around me offering KD Firewood. Last fall he was selling it for $275 a cord while regular seasoned firewood...

    Fire wood Kilns

Looking on the internet, there was a guy who dried his firewood in a storage container, he said it dried it from 50-20% MC in like 260 hours. I should have saved the link, I'll see if I can find it again. Here's an idea, just rent out like 15 of those temperature controlled storage units, and...

    Fire wood Kilns

After more thought, maybe a big sized firewood kiln is not the answer. After factoring in the cost to heat a building like this, as well as big fans or whatever to constantly circulate the air, you would have to be selling a lot of wood to make this thing worthwhile. Even if you did get all...

    Firewood drying "pad"?

I'm thinking, I could always just pour standard foundation walls around the perimeter, maybe 4 feet high, and only pour it on three sides, so I can get a bucket loader in. They would be permanent, but I think that is the most cost effective way to do this. The only thing is that bottom 4' of...

    Firewood drying "pad"?

I just did some research on those barriors, they have ones that are 4' long, and 32" high, that weigh 750 pounds. I can definatlly manouver this size around with my tractor, even if it dosent fit in the bucket. The only thing is that the price of this particular barrior is $250 brand new. I...

    Firewood drying "pad"?

no, I'm still going to sell by the cord. I've seen smaller dividers around, like 2'x4'x3' high. I think my tractor could move those around fairly easy. Once I get them in place, there would not be to much moving after that unless I want to divide it up or make it bigger.

    Firewood drying "pad"?

I am in the process of getting my own property, and I think one of the first things I do when I get it is either pave or pour a slab of concrete something like 40' by 60' and get some of those concrete highway dividers, ones small enough so I can move them with a 43 hp kubota tractor. I would...

Give me some advice before I start this project.....

I agree with cjcon, just some 2x4 with plywood gussets would be strong enough I think if your only stacking 3-4' high. I dont think the roof will make a difference though

    Fire wood Kilns

I've thought about that before. I've seen that woodmizer sells that kiln for dimension lumber, but I've always thought those would work for firewood too. I've never thought about putting it in a trailer though. If I am ever to do something like that, I might buy a cheaper insulated quonsut hut...

Am I the only one who likes to buy the most useless stuff just to make life easier?

yup, if your talking about the ear protection with the radio, the amount of time I use them a week mowing 25 lawns, I think that was one of the best things I've ever bought. If I had to do it again, I would get ones with just radio, as thats all I ever really listen on them anyway.

Am I the only one who likes to buy the most useless stuff just to make life easier?

yah, I've only backed up with mirrors, but my trailer is big enough that I have to be dead on because I can't budge the trailer at all. Even backing up with my mirrors it still usually takes me at least twice to get it right.

Am I the only one who likes to buy the most useless stuff just to make life easier?

Ok, does anybody else out there just buy stuff to make thier life easier, even if it is completely unessacary? I've spent $100 on hearing protection so I can have a radio built in and plug my ipod into it, just to name a couple of the stupid things I've done. My latest idea is to buy one of...

    opinion on lesser known brands

My thought on any "knockoff brand" is go down to home depot and pick the "wild thing". Is there any cheaper, more plasticy brand? There's a reason why its always on sale at $69.99. The only brand like that I've ever owned that was actually worth keep was a ryobi leaft blower I got for my...

No leads sorry, but I'm still keeping my eyes open. Besides myself I only know of one other guy in my area who owns one. Like I said I found my in the uncle henrys, but that was the only time I've ever seen one in there, and haven't seen one since. Looking back, honestly I would have bought...

    Just bought my first diesel!

After 8 months or so of researching, I finnaly bought my first diesel truck. A 2001 GMC 2500 HD duramax. I think this has exactly what I'm looking for, being used primarly for mowin lawns, delivering wood and plowing snow, a good work truck. Anything I show know about diesels that is...
