    Blaze King Princess 32

Remember stove pipe has increased dramatically too. The king uses 8" opposed to any other BK that uses 6".

    early stihl 044 carb

I have an early 90's 044 (10mm wrist pin) with a Zama c3m carb. The saw is great and always ran good. Lately it seems like a little fussy with the carb settings. Boggs down a bit at high rpms, and the idle is fussy. Sometimes it will idle fine, but other times the chain will continuing...

    Fireplace glass temp question

Here is the story. My brother in law recently had the glass on his fireplace (not woodstove) break during use. He was told the glass got too hot because a piece of wood settled against it and continued burning. Also that the glass that was on his fireplace was only good to 400 degrees, to me...

    nc30 on clearance yet?

I got my present one on clearance about 6 years ago. But now the local store (HD) doesn't sell wood stoves anymore. I found one an hour away for around $600 full price. Not bad for a quality wood stove if you don't mind having one on the smaller side. A 30 would cook me out for sure.

    nc30 on clearance yet?

I've been watching for clearance also. Except I'm looking for its little brother the nc-13. I already have a 13 in one of my out buildings and wouldn't mind having one in my home to use in the spring/fall to take the chill out upstairs. Rather than firing up my wood furnace when I really...

    woodshed lights

Every past winter for years I made a mental note to run a power line underground from my garage to my woodshed. Of coarse, in the warmer months I would always forget until it was too late and the ground was frozen. But this summer I finally remembered. No more trying to hold a flashlight and...

    Drying firewood in a pile?

If I had that much wood processed I wouldn't stack it either. I used to stack everything but the older I get I could really care less if some wood is in contact with the ground and rots.

it's the cold before the hot!

Now I feel stupid, I've been telling people once march rolls around the -20's are over. I was only a degree warmer than my neighbor to the north in Pillager Mn. Like he said, the warm up is on the way, 50's on Monday. I will believe it when I see it.

To Grease OR Not To Grease?

Before every splitting session, I dump some used oil on the top of the beam and run the ram in and out a couple of times. Too much wood debris sticks to the grease otherwise, especially where the ram retracts.

Log length, or cut /split in the woods?

I normally like to drop the tree and limb it out on the spot. Then drag the whole tree with my bobcat to a spot I have cleared for bucking and eventually splitting. If you have a way of dragging or lifting logs, its much easier keeping everything together in a area free of under brush and...

    Hour Meter

What happens over time is the display will crap out. Find one with a replaceable battery and some memory or else when the battery dies the hours will erase. Because the digital ones always display the hours whether the motor is running or not. So eventually the battery will die.

    Shiny new Super Split!

I like your table. It appears the recoil on your engine would be more convenient if you un-bolted it and rotated it 1/2 turn to the bottom. Then it would pull strait back. The picture makes it look a bit difficult to access the current way.

    Generator and sizing

I have a 5000/6250 peak. The electrician who wired up my transfer switch asked me why I have such a big generator. I asked him what he uses and he said 2500 watt. I don't know if he is starting up a well pump or not. The gauges on my transfer switch that show watt usage, don't move to much...

    Firewood Bid Estimation

I know nothing about logging. I know 200 wooded acres, its my backyard, its huge. I do operate heavy equipment and over the years we have done countless jobs involving clearing land. One that sticks out was the new construction of a golf course, approx. 200 acres, half wooded. A logging crew...

    fire starters

Newspaper on bottom, split some splits into small strips, diesel fuel and a trigger torch. I light a new fire every day, this is by far the most efficient/quickest way to get one started. So far this winter I've only gone thru a 1 1/2 quarts of diesel, and no it doesn't stink up anything After...

    Mud season is coming

Mud, whats that? I remember looking over my "well log report" from the well driller who drilled my well. It shows pure sand down to the depth of 82' where the gravel/water begins.

Introducing Brand New Wood Furnace to Market - The Drolet Tundra!

When I first had my wood furnace installed, the cold air return wasnt hooked up by the HVAC guy. He was young and I dont think he had any experience with wood burning furnaces. The furnace worked fine and heated well. But since this was new home construction, I started having issues with the...

    50 days so far!

I've been working on that software glitch for a couple of years now, totally baffled. Its the weather station software trying to talk to the Wunderground's software. It worked great for years, then a change was made to their site and they rolled out some "new" software. From that point on its...
