oly jim, you have a good memory...I did buy the 440 and it works great....I was thinking of getting the 400 to leave at my mom's house for convenience. She is always needing something trimmed up/cleaned up around her place..and it's difficult for me to carry my 440 back and forth becausea lot...

I have a chance to get this saw (like new condition) for $150...It is orange one, with easy access filter, side chain adjust, 40cc, 18" bar... I plan to use it as a general purpose saw...not real heavy use. thanks

well, I'm a beaten man. couldn't get it started. If the plug fires, that means the switch is good, right? Clint, from this site, has offered to rebuild it for me.....what a nice guy and I haven't even met him yet!... I gradually backed the L out at 1/4 turn intervals but still wouldn't...

thanks steve..do I just adjust the H or the L also to make it richer (I asssume I tighten it counterclockwise to richen it)....what is best way to get out those red plug restrictors, and do I cut the "tabs" off them and put them back in? thanks so much.

well I got the 440 for $150. It is brand new....never had gas or oil in it....woman says it was husband's gift 3 yrs ago but he never used it.... thanks again for all feedback...you guys are great.
