I have a 012 av also. I love it,small, lite, 45cc and great for limbing and bucking the top of the trees. I have never had to work on it. I guess there a pain to work on. I`ll run it intell it goes bad I guess.

Been a while sense I worked on a saw this old. I must say they are loud and pretty cool sounding.

Pull the handle in tell your on the first compression stroke also helps.

Saw could be flooding and gas in the crank case. I was working on a green thing awhile back and the gas tank held a lot of pressure. When the needle in the carb opened it would dump a lot of fuel fast and flood the crank case. Open and close the gas cap before trying to start it.

Sounds like the saw needs to be pressure and vac tested.
