    Nik's Poulan Thread

Have a S25DA question. Having issues with a conistent idle. Looks like seals were replaced but I did a pressure test anyway. Only leak I can find is around the oil pump. Seems to me that because the oil pump is isolated from the crankcase and operates by impulse pressure, an air leak...

    Saw Storage

How do you prepare your saws for long term storagae e.g. year or nore? I normally spray the cylinder with fogging oil but am wondering more about keeping the carb diaphragms from getting stiff. On saws with purge bulbs some people will suck 2 stroke into the carb. What options are there for...

Have you tried spraying some mix in the carb to see if it starts? I'm betting the carb needs a rebuild, 3400's are basically bullet proof. When u replaced the rings did the intake adaptor feel tight? A small air leak from the seals won't affect the saw running but will affect tuning. A...

Echo cs490 fuel and impulse line routing.

I gotta be losing my mind! Rebuilt 490 carb but dang I forgot where the feul line and impulse line go. I believe the impulse line goes to the top of the carb but not positive.

    Carb Issue

Having an issue with the carb not returning to idle quickly. Takes a few seconds then it will idle fine. Checked linkage and it seems fine. I rebuilt carb but wonder if the metering lever isn't set correctly or is it a pump side issue. Its a Zama C1Q carb. Also I'm cheating a little casue...

Amazing how many differant recoil pulleys and flywheels came on the 3700. This one has the 3400 style. I've seen two other styles as well.

Ms 250 change to single carb adj. needle

When and why did Stihl do this? Being old school, I prefer both Lo and Hi needles.

    Stihl 015

Good running small saws. Some folks remove the points and install a Nova Module. Really helps starting the saw.

    Husqvarna 350 Rebuild

One additional thought. Install a muffler bracket. Not sure if you have one or not. A must for these saws

I would be careful. Those rings have notched tips whereas oem have straight tips. The ring pins on the 3400 thru 4000 pistons have their ring pins in the middle of the ring groove thus the blunt ends on the rings.

You're a better man than me! I wouldn't do that as I'm not into bow bars.

    Question for the Poulan experts...

While its nice to have more cc's, 5 more cc's (49 vs 54) isn't that much. PP305 0r 3000 are great saws. You can always get a PP335 as Kevin mentioned or a Poulan 3300 if you have to have a 50+cc saw.

I prefer Echo line as well. Much easier to work with than Tygon.

    Pioneer chainsaws

Worm gear on pump and crank look fine. I've thought about replacing the pickup line but have yet to do that. No, I've been running saw w/o the bar and chain on. Didn't think that would effect oil flow. Figure as long as the gears were ok it should oil.

Having an issue with my Poulan Pro 405. I believe it’s similar to the P41 or P42. Believe it has the same auto oil system. My problem is the oiler hardly oils. It simply very slowly dribbles out. I’ve disassembled the oiler, checked the adjustment screw o ring( looks okey). Also sprayed both...
