    Depth gauge tool

I'm looking at the Husqvarna progressive depth gauge tool and wondered if it will work on other brands of chain? I run mostly Carlton 3/8 chain but I haven't found a file o plate yet. Will the Husky one work? Thanks!

    Any Gen-X’ers heating with wood?

I was born in 83 so I don't know what generation I'm technically in, but I prefer things simpler and a little more old fashioned so I'll claim the gen x title. I've been burning wood for about 15 years and in those 15 years it's been my only source of heat. I burn 10-12 cord a year.

    MS261C muffler mod help

I was cutting a 16" oak log. So letting it idle for 90 seconds in the start position is the correct way to do it? I did it for 60 seconds the first time and 90 seconds the next time and noticed no difference?

    MS261C muffler mod help

I cut the gills into the side of my muffler yesterday and recalibrated the Mtronic system according to the posts I've read here and only gained one second in the cut. To recalibrate it I put the saw in the start position and let it idle for 60 seconds then shut it off. Is there anything else I...

    "You Suck" Thread 2019--Pics required!

I picked up a Stihl 046 for free that ended up just needing clutch springs and a few screws for the engine shroud. It's not pristine but definitely has life left in it!

    MS440 Dual port muffler cover

I've put an early muffler on my 440 with the larger exhaust opening, would a dual port cover help any or is the larger opening enough? I just use it for firewood cutting and rarely do I put a larger bar than a 20" on it.

how often do you change your log splitter fuilds

I changed the oil and filter in my Wallenstein splitter for the first time this past spring and I bought it new 10 years ago. I change the engine oil every year regardless of how many hours I put on it. However many hours it takes to split 12-15 cord of firewood is how many hours it gets a year!

    Stuck on new saw purchase

I started out with one chainsaw and then they multiplied! If you are going to have one saw get two bars incase you pinch one. Between me and my dad we have 3 261's and they're great! I just cut firewood and they would more than handle anything I would want to pick up and put on the splitter...

How much wood do you burn?

Central MN. I'm heating an old farmhouse with a Royall 6526 indoor boiler plus all the hot water. I've tinkered a bit with the boiler to get it to do what I want and it will keep the house at 75 even at 40 below. We probably do through 10-12 cord a winter of good dry wood.
