12v Hydraulic Pump ground strap fried

I like putting them inside the cab so they stay in good shape. I actually cover it with some 1/8" thick white plastic sheeting ( shower panels I think) so that if a hose blows it at least directs the oil down. I also put it behind the passenger seat so it sits lower.

    Is this a lightning strike?

One of the poplars beside my house got hit years ago. No burn marks at all but big long weird looking crack like the bottom of your first pic. The bark has kind of grown around it now but I'm planning to cut it down soon. Also had an ash tree where I cut my firewood hit by lightening. Blew a...

    Scrounging Firewood (and other stuff)

When I built my 36" stroke splitter the hydraulic guy said the Plastic band lined hose would be fine. It was not fine and collapsed right away even with cold oil. I went back and told him what happened. I asked for 1 1/2" hydraulic hose and he said it was a waste of money. I told him I already...

How to hook up a 12v winch to pull logs into a processing table?

Jim, here are some pictures of a couple log deck I made. You would still have to load them with the grapple but at least it would allow you several hours of cutting per deck. The red one has adjustable legs and was made for my buddies Blacks Creek processor with belt feed. It also has lifting...

How to hook up a 12v winch to pull logs into a processing table?

Jim, here is my rounds table setup. The type of table would also feed your cutting station. Instead of blocks under the end you would place blocks under the sides so the logs roll easily to your saw end. It wouldn't need to be near this steep for logs. I load this table with my tractor using...

How to hook up a 12v winch to pull logs into a processing table?

Jim, I don't think that a winch is a practical solution for something like you are trying to do. Takes as long to pull a small log as a long one and they over heat quickly. I use roller conveyors for lots of things. I'll post some pics of a few different things I've used them for. I buy them at...

J G. check this thread out for pictures of my Hotblast furnace. They are the same style. I installed a regular furnace fan on mine. Has 3 speeds and move tons more air. https://www.arboristsite.com/threads/hot-blast-1557m-blower.328601/#post-6785412

    Box Store Log Splitters?

Best bet if you don't need one right away is to advertise on local marketplace sites that you are looking for one. Lots of people buy them, split a bit of wood and decided to buy split wood.

    Scrounging Firewood (and other stuff)

Nice Jeff. We got a bunch laying and flying around. Juice went off last night, they said not coming back on until 2:00 today. I ( wife) decided we (me) needed to fire up the generator. I went out to move enough snow to get things moved around. OWB is boiling over even though I didn't put any...

    Wallenstein wood processor

My buddy bought a used Blacks Creek 1500 and after I made a few improvements I really like it. He wasn't sure about buying it but I talked him into it, now he loves it.

    Wallenstein wood processor

I've bid on a couple at auctions but was just planning on reselling them. I never did think they were a step up from much. I like my processor but I've redid a few things on it. I don't use it much but it is nice to sit down and run wood.

    Scrounging Firewood (and other stuff)

Just Jeff, I get cut offs from work and split them down. 2x 10's get split to 1/2" or so. 2x6 and 2x4 get split to 1" or so. Speeco get s a little hot. Don't dare put your hand on the cylinder.

Speeco splitter and a dead Briggs - replacement options

I have a converted Speeco and usually only use it on huge rounds. I also use it for splitting construction cutoffs into fine kindling. It still has the original engine on it and it works well. If it ever went I would just put a chinese engine and pump on it. I have several of them and they all...

    Backup generator opinions.

Power goes off here once in awhile. I decided I was tired of running cords and small gennies to run the stuff we want for two houses and the shop. 20 kw diesel unit.

What splitter modifications / additions have you made? Pictures please.

I made that axe based on suggestions from Zogger. I also have a light bar for night use. Pretty handy for those short Fall days.

Pics of my umbrella. It's on a wheeled cart so I can move it as the sun moves.

What splitter modifications / additions have you made? Pictures please.

Not a splitter but a rounds cutter. Another project that I did and never used much. It worked good though.
