I'm not married, I don't suffer from any of the ills of having a wife.

STIHL Dealer turn around time question

Everything they're telling you is 100% correct. And for parts to reach you in PA, from their Stihl distributor is 3 business days. Or if they order after noon it's 4.

STIHL Dealer turn around time question

Good Fast Cheap -Pick Two. During the summer I'm usually backed up 30+ of hand held units deep and run 10-14 day turn around.

stihl 291??? any better than 290??

The 270 and 280's were good except their tendency to rip out the front AV spring and tear intake boots. An bit over priced but decent saws. The 271, 261, 291 for the millionth time are based on the same platform 261 being pro saw, and 271, 291 being modular engined saws. The 271/291...

    Jonsered 2171 turbo rim sizes

    I'm running my 2166 with a 8 tooth and a 20" bar without issue 24" or bigger I'd go 7 pin.

    What would you buy?

CS2188, 390xp, MS660 just pull the trigger and enjoy standing in woodchips up to your eyeballs. :msp_biggrin:

It's here! The M-Tronic MS261C is finally here.

That's correct, and it seems like the few independently owned distributors Brad's being Bryant Equipment. Tend to keep less units on hand so they have a quicker transition to new models over Mid Atlantic Stihl who has more on hand and takes longer to switch over.

    550xp or 261?

I agree the 261 feels like if could fall out of a tree, or just take the beating of daily abuse by a tree service better than. The 550 is a scalpel, the 261 is an axe I prefer my tools to be tough first and foremost.

    550xp or 261?

The 550 is a better limbing saw more agile, more compact, but if you're bucking up firewood the 261 has more grunt.

    Kart Saw / Hot Saw

My 2nd cookie with the 660 was too thick and had to go very slow to not cut out on the 3rd cookie. Three cuts with the 660 was 9.80 and the 288 was a 8.11, a better run with the 660 and they would have been dead even.

    Kart Saw / Hot Saw

I ran a stock 288, and MS660 with 16" bars and 9 tooth sprockets cutting 12" round white pine this weekend. A big Mac like that a 10 with 3/8 chain would probably work great.

    Kart Saw / Hot Saw

This is a large mount Husky bar that can run a 9 tooth just cut out the end of the bar and profile it to match the sprocket. This started off as a 84dl 24" Stihl ES bar, it's been cut to run a 72dl chain and 11/12 tooth sprocket. You have to cut a new oil hole, adjuster hole, and bar...

    Kart Saw / Hot Saw

Stick with a 9 or 10, it's easier for a novice to operate and less time cutting out the back end of the bar to make it fit.

the proper way to say stihl

US- Steel Australia/Canada- Still Or atlest the Canadians I know from southern Ontario pronounce it that way. And those of us from Western NY-Steeeeeeel. Eveerything here is pronounced with very hard vowel sounds.

562 xp vs. 372 xp vs. ms 461

The 562 is a real nice saw, but I wouldn't run 24" bar on one all the time. 60cc saws even the now "legendary cure all to the worlds ills" 562xp is best suited with 20" bars. 24" bars is the domain of 70cc saws I've spent the last few days cutting a with a 2166. And it feels as strong as the...
