I did richen it up after adding the Husky Deflector, but not after I took the baffle out.

I added the Husky Deflector to my MS361 and then decided to go ahead and open it up to remove the baffle as well. It idles fine and runs well. I didn't really even need to adjust the H after removing the baffle...seemed to be running a bit rich (I used a tach). I have a couple options to...

Black paint will make them run cooler. Don't know that you would notice the difference though. There is a reason radiators in cars are black.

I'm sure it does, but you definitely gain even without tearing it apart.

I did think about that. Kind of pricey, so I'll see how this works out before spending the coin on the 2 piece. I'm not going to be using this saw day in and day out.

I don't doubt that. At some point I may find a cheap one off ebay and tear into it, but for now it isn't a priority. The rest of the saw is stock and more than enough for Eastern WA pines and firs.

I greased mine before reading all the posts about it here. I'll keep lubing until I need to replace the nose. After that I'm not sure.

I saw those posts, but the part has been used on the MS362 from the factory without the modification. It is more readily available and cheaper than the older part, but not sure if there is something else about it that I am missing.

Can someone tall me what the difference is between the older MS361/MS441 "Large" cover (part number 1138 648 0400) and the MS362 "Large" cover (part number 1138 648 0460)? Visibly look identical without having them in my hand, and they are both supposed to be metal. Thanks
