Why can't Remington get any respect??

Remington PL6 Questions I have a Remington PL6 in really good shape that was my father-in-laws dad's saw. I got it running a few weeks ago. Put a kit in the Tillotson carb, new fuel line and off she went. I am having problems though. The motor is very strong with great compression but it...

    Remington PL-6 saw

Hey Hoss or Shoerfast, my Remington PL-6 currently has an old original bow on it. Can I buy a bar that will fit it from someone like Bailey's. If so, what type bar does it use (a Husqvarna, Stihl or other mount type)? Or is it none of the above and nearly impossible to find?

Aftermarket Cyl. kit comments for 026 Stihl

I have a Stihl 026 Pro chainsaw and want to buy an aftermarket cylinder kit. I see that bailey's has them for $99.95. They are a chrome plated cylinder - not NiSil coated. Does anyone make a NiSil coated aftermarket for this saw? If saw where can I buy one. Also have any of you used aftermarket...

    Stihl 026 PRO oiler adjustment

My oiler adjustment screw will turn around and around with out any stops either way as best I could tell. It oils great but just oils too much. What could be wrong if there is supposed to be a "stop"?

    Stihl 026 PRO oiler adjustment

I run an 18" bar on my 026 and it oils just a little too much. I notice an excess of oil "slobbering" around the chain guard when it idles. Also, it uses almost all a full tank of oil to a full tank of gas. I would like to turn the oiler down some to insure that I don't run out of oil before I...

    Remington PL-6 saw

Anyone familar with an old Remington PL-6 saw? My father-in-law has one that is complete and looks great that belonged to his father since new. It hasn't been cranked in 25+ years at least but I plan on getting it running. It has a bow on it now. Were these good saws? Are any parts still around...

Partner R16 - Clutch nut RH thread or LH?

Got it. I remove by turning it clockwise. Do it need a "special" tool to use as a piston stop of is simply pushing a bit of rope through the spark plug hole adequate?

Partner R16 - Clutch nut RH thread or LH?

I need to replace the sprocket on my old Partner R16. I can't remember if the nut is RH or LH thread. Can you tell me? Thanks.

    Partner R17 question

That sounds about right. My wife's grandfather bought it new in East Texas around 1970 as best he and family members can remember. He ran it hard until the very late 90's. It was one tough saw. Gobs of torque - it's just got lot's of "sick-em" for a 55cc saw. Doesn't turn lots of revs but with...

    Partner R17 question

Pics of my saw - Is this an R16? Heres some pics - is it an R16? I have pics of the cylinder also if needed.

    Partner R17 question

HiOctane, that's what I'll do after I located a piston/rings and use the muriatic acid to clean it up.

    Partner R17 question

HiOctane, I guess I should try muriatic acid first. From what I understand, since the cylinder is plated and much harder than the aluminum piston, what I feel and see is most likely a "buildup" of aluminum that got deposited from the piston to the cylinder wall when the piston started "melting"...

    Partner R17 question

From what HIoctane and Stihl Crazy are saying, the cylinder will bolt up and work but it's not a "bolt-in" replacement where my saw can use all the same parts (ignition, top cover, etc) and be ready to cut wood? I don't want to have to chase down a different coil, top cover, etc since I hear...

    Partner R17 question

Mange, I know for certain this saw was bought brand new by my wife's grandfather, now 93 and has never had ANYTHING modified or changed on it so I came with that cylinder. I see that it is an R16 and not an R17 because of it not having anti-vibe. He ran this saw from late sixties to early...

    Partner R17 question

Numbers off my saw I looked closer at my saw and got all the numbers off of it. There is a 687081 you can see clearly if you look from the end of the bar back toward the saw. Also, at the very base of the cylinder on the bar side of the saw there is a number cast in the cylinder A2...

    Partner R17 question

I have a Partner R17 saw that is, I believe around a 55cc saw. Can anyone here tell me if a Partner 65cc cylinder/piston will bolt on to it without modifications? The cylinder/piston part# is 506-07-70-01? If you don't know can you direct me to someone who does? Thanks.

    Husky 55 problems - suggestions?

Huskyman, I agree Between 3 men in my family, we have 4 Husky 55 saws (2 Ranchers, 2 not) and we have had great luck with them. Go to the woods, cut wood till you're worn out. Do this over and over and the 55's just won't give up. I personally have an 026 PRO that I like the feel of better but...

    Husky 55 problems - suggestions?

Sounds like a plan Our family does have a 55 Husky with that new style filter and that sounds like a good idea. Luckily his saw wasn't hurt.

Laser Brand Piston Rings from Cutter's Choice?

Dozerdan sold me some dozerdan hooked me up with the Tecomec piston and rings for my 026 PRO and they work fine. The piston looks VERY high quality - as good as the Stihl stuff. You will not be disappointed - get dozerdan to hook you up with some.
