Hey guys, it looks like they may have caught the guy and it seems he has been quite busy too. Many more shops were hit.

The guy did a smash and grab x-mas morning at a Janesville, WI tractor dealer.

Around here we get Red Headed Ash Borers that go after wood piles. I could hear them munching away mid winter on wood piled in the shed. They leave round holes drilled right through the wood like you drilled it. They don't do much harm and I ignore them.
The bug on the left is the Red Headed Ash Borer. It normally only goes after dead or dying wood, like my wood stacks.

....then, after I have been distracted and have forgotten about the woodstove, I hear the timer go off. I then go in and adjust it or poke the logs. I may even reset the timer a few times until the stove has settled in.
I have a timer alarm next to the woodstove. If I have the damper pulled out or any other temporary setting, I set the timer for 10-15 minutes before I walk away. The simplest thing will distract me these days.
I used to dump ashes in my garden, but then I started testing my soil. My soil was way too alkaline and I have read ashes even make it worse.
Here is info about it:

Wow. I never had one and so I thought I'd look it up. It seems they are a nasty thing.....I don't want one. Good luck.

I've been using saws for 40 years and I still don't like the way they feel. Now with me getting older and weaker, I think it is best for me to stay away from them.
It takes energy to turn water to steam where that energy could be heating your house. Why go through all the work of cutting, splitting, and stacking just to boil water out of green wood?
LOL ! You do have to dry it first! The Box Elder does work great early or late in the year when I don't need the BTU's. Getting rid of his "treasure" must have made him happy as he wants a row of mature Black Locust taken out now.
