    Soft Maple

    I have cut some that maple that grows in the wet areas and it took forever to dry and like you said did not split very good. Did yours dry very good.

    One thing, you said your pump is on the return line. If it is a circulation type pump it won't work good that way. It should be on your line going into the house.

    How good of wood is soft maple to burn? Always burned hard maple. I have a chance to get 2 loads of 10 pulp cords on a load real cheap. It is all 8 to 10 dia and 8 foot long.

    Am I doing something wrong

    Do you have a shutoff vavle between your pump and furnace? Mine has one on each side of the pump. If you can avoid doing so don't take the line off the pump as they will get shorter and you won't be able to get your pump back and hooked up. See if you can just replace the cartiage.

    As slow as it goes I hope he does not burn much wood. I would fall a sleep waiting for it to cut and split. I think what he is holding in his hand may be a remote for his winch.

    I am only 5'6 or 5'7 and I have caught that handle a couple of times in the fore head and once between the eyes. I don't use it anymore for that reason. Nothing makes you day start any better than getting woke up that way.:msp_smile::D

    What I do is when I get a lot of coals I don't add any wood during the day. and go out and stir up the coals a few time during the day, dig deep into the coal bed and bring all the unburnt chunk up and they will burn and keep your stove up to temp.     Your problem is not in the 1 inch line it is in the coils in the heat exchanger. You need water under pressure to get the air trapped inside it out Your cir. pump won't do it.

    Do you have a heat exchanger that forced air blows thru or is all you haave the in floor heat? If you have a heat exchanger i almost bet there is air trapped in it. I had the same problem and had to use a water hose under pressure to get the air bubbles out of the heat exchanger.
