I can and will do that tomorrow BobL. In answer to your question I did NOTHING to the stock out of the box ripping chain on the saw. If I need to take the rakers down, have Roloc and can do it....<grin>. Even my city-fied daughter thought the boards we cut were "very cool" Thanks again for...

Total Noob to CSM first mill attempt

Hey all, I've had an alaskan mill for a year now and finally got up the gumption to use it. I have a new Husky 395XP with a Walker muffler tuned properly. I waited a year because I wanted 10-15 hours on the new 395 before I abused the heck out of it. Yesterday wife and I setup the mill...

    Darn

I got that beat. Back in the drinking days I used to get well lubricated and then come up with all these "Great" ideas, wife was always telling me I was full of crap. One night I thought; "I'll show that witch" and I decided to write down my "great" ideas while I was drinking. Upon...

Northstar VS Huskee.Which way would you go?

Had my Huskee 35 ton for five years now, only problem has been a leaky hose which was easily fixed. The engine on mine is a Briggs I/C engine and even though I LOVE those Honda engines this one is no slouch. Starts every time even if it's sat for six months, will split anything you can get...

    The Beg for Manuals Thread

OK I'm an idiot. I've spent two hours reading this thread looking for a SERVICE manual for a 395XP. Yes I've searched with forum functions and google funtions but there seems to be a really big lack of service manuals (if there are any...) available for this saw. I have to get to cutting...

need help pickin out a new chainsaw

If all you're doing is bucking it man, you don't need any heavy duty saws or 70cc saws IF they are going to be too heavy for you. Just had to sell a beloved 372XP because my shoulders and neck won't handle the weight anymore (go ahead, call me names I don't care...). Every year I get a semi...

What makes the MS 261 better than the 346 XP?

"What makes the MS 261 better than the 346 XP? " NOTHING. They are BOTH really great saws IMHO and I've used both even though I'm prejudiced towards the 346XP as I've got a new one -- it was $50 less at the dealer than the Stihl and that was a decidiing factor. Art

Sucker for old Mac's Guys I've only got ONE Mac.............the original Promac 610 I bought when wife and I got married in 1981. That saw has never let me down and still runs but my Husky's are much better saws obviously. Anyway I've been doing my best for the last five years to NOT get...

    Bad forum!

Yeah, I have Just, been lurking is all. and truth be known??? I was looking AWFUL hard at that new Stihl vs. the 346XP but Husky won. That MS261 is a really nice saw that Stihl finally came out with, I'm just a "Husky" guy <grin>.

    Bad forum!

Thanks Troll, All my bars now are 18" so I'll probably keep them the same length as I'm used to them. My 353 feels fine with it's 18" bar but you are correct -- point of balance IS better with a 16" bar as I've tried it. I have a 20" on my 372 and that's a long bar (to me..). I have a 24"...
