Hi Janet, Aha, the wood made a difference! That's good! This is only my fourth winter heating with wood, and I did not fully understand "seasoned" wood when I started and now that I've learned, I've helped a few people who are new to wood heat learn it for themselves. I thought the...

Okay, now I see your reply. So, your setup is similar to mine: I have double wall stovepipe from the top of my stove to the ceiling support, then double wall chimney through about 4' of attic, three more feet after it passes through the roof, and then the chimney cap. I don't have any...

Yup, found the album and the pic of the stove. Nice installation! I don't see your other reply, which means it probably didn't post, but let's continue anyway. Looks like the stovepipe exits from the rear of the stove rather than the top. Where are you measuring the stove temperature...

Sorry to hear about your troubles. The F3 is a great stove. Let's start with the simplest stuff first.... Are there gray rope-like gaskets on the ash pan door and the firebox door? Is the door glass secure? Is the small round air control under the middle of the door glass closed (all the...

    Help with stove id?

Okay, let's see... the stove is in a house I bought recently and I have not fired it up yet. I'm considering giving or trading it to a friend because I have one more stove than I need. Thanks for the suggestion to post it on hearthnet. I may do that if I can't find any other info on it...

New Guy from NJ with a few questions

Yeah, Kurtz! That's the place. It certainly does look like the kind of shop where once you're known you can come into the back, sit around the wood stove and bs a while. I guess I'll have to stop in there next time I need something just to check it out. I can see how someone new might...

New Guy from NJ with a few questions

Hey Lou, That's correct, at least as far as big box store saws go. There is (or was) a sign on Don's counter that read, "If you didn't buy your saw here, we won't fix it" or something to that effect. I guess he got tired of people bringing in their box store junk saw and (probably) not...

New Guy from NJ with a few questions

Oops, the towers are in E. Brunswick, not South. :) Been through there, too. There are still some nice farms out that way. Is your family farm growing fruit and produce? Closer to Cranbury, a couple of years ago I made many trips to Jamesburg to help a friend dispose of many, many...

    Help with stove id?

Hi all, I recently acquired this stove. There are some number plates on it, but nothing that tells me what brand it is or when it was made. Does anyone recognize it? Or know anything about it? Thanks!

New Guy from NJ with a few questions

Yep, I know South Brunswick. :) I worked at "the towers" on Rt. 18 for a few years back in, um, '98 & '99. Cranbury is a nice town. I have friend that lives in E. Windsor and I've been through there many times. I live a couple of minutes down the road from Walt's. It's still fairly...

New Guy from NJ with a few questions

Hey neighbor, welcome! :D If you found a saw shop in Pennington, you're probably not too far away from me. Have you been to Bish Sales on Rt. 31? That's the place that looks like it's an old service station, near Rosedale Mills. They're a Husqvarna dealer and Don and his mom are good...

    Off Topic: Metal thread taps

Hey Shari, Would something like this work? You still have to drill a decent size hole, but there's no tapping! http://morebeer.com/view_product/19793/102220/Weldless_Spigot_-_Stainless Ed

And a 28-way wedge. :D If you get one of the bigger OWBs, you won't even need to buck the stuff! :dizzy:

Yep, chris50ae is correct. The gauge measures the return flow of hydro fluid through the filter into the tank. When the filter becomes clogged and the flow slows, the gauge will read in the yellow or red. Makes sense that it will do it if the fluid is very cold too, but in the last few weeks...

Thanks. :) The welds look pretty good to me, too. I took a welding course at the local vo-tech a few years back and can put down a fair bead with a stick machine, but I'm not a welder by any stretch. The welds on this machine look great and the build quality was a big part of the reason...

Thanks. :D You too! That TW2-HD is a great looking machine and is probably what I would have bought if I didn't go for a PTO-powered model. To the new T'wolves:

540 PTO rpm on my tractor is at 2,300 engine rpm. I was running at about 1,200 rpm and had no problem pushing anything through the four- or six-way wedges. I split about a cord of mixed ash, black walnut, oak, locust, and maple. I really enjoy not standing next to a gas engine screaming...
