When to change single wall stove pipe?

Seriously, you have gotten your money's worth out of that pipe, replace it.

    unloading firewood blocks

Rather than a fancy store bought one, why not get a straight 1 1/2 inch stick or maybe a shovel handle and put a 4" lag screw through it(drill an undersized hole first). this one isn't going to be your main tool but just for a few that are way in.

Helping a Friend Decide - New Chainsaw

I have an MS261 cm with a 24" bar, not trying to win any cookie cutting contests, but the 24 inch bar reduces 'bendovers' and as you get older that is a very big deal. The 261 cuts everything the 362 did that it replaced, just a bit slower. and it is a few lbs lighter. I do not have the...

    Best splitting maul

I need to clarify that a bit, after the rail was 'scored' it was set between two immovable objects and bent and then the rail 'snapped' at the score point. Probably took a lot of effort to bend it. Also, to answer the first question, It probably would split wood, but need to be sharpened. I have...

    Best splitting maul

Look up Rail Road Cut Devil, the rails would be scored on all sides then bent and the hope that helps. rail would snap. done cold, that is not heating the rail. These things were set, sharp end, on the rail and a larger hammer would hit them to score the rail hope that this helps

    Tips for firewood hoarding?

measure 16 inches from the end of your saw, might come out at about one of the bar bolts, remember that spot. Then as you go along a log set your saw on top, eyeball from end to 16 inch mark and cut there. A little practice and you will have your blocks all within a half of an inch.

    Hand splitting

Yes, I think that is true for the smaller stuff, but if it is too big to pick up and put in tire , well that doesn't count anyways.

462 - skip tooth or full comp?

I guess it depends on what you are cutting but I live a bit west of you and also have a 462 and cut Dfir, Lodgepole and Tamarack and think that skip works just fine and is much quicker to sharpen

    Best brush cutter blades.

I will third the renegade blades, 9", the more teeth the better they work on wood, the fewer teeth the better they work on brushy stuff. I find that the 22 tooth carbide blade is a good mix for what I have

    Two saw plan 261 and ?? 400 or 462?

I have the 261 and 462 combo, couldn't be happier. Yes the 261 gets used much more but occasionally a big stick blows over and you really need something bigger.

I second the recommendations on the Silky. I have a curved 'Ultra' maybe 10 inches or so, very handy and stays sharp a very long time

    Stihl FS 250 engine troubleshooting

Hi mine had similar symptoms, after, lots of trial and error, i finally put on a new muffler, difference was night and day. apparently the 'condensate' gunks up the holes in the exhaust baffles and you then can't get it hot enough to clear them. the new muffler weighed much less that the old...
