    OWB or hot water storage

Well, you have the tanks already. The coils and some tubing shouldn't break the bank. A pump might not be too expensive. Maybe you should just give it a try for next winter and see what you think.

    OWB or hot water storage

Hey neighbour, I live in Nolalu too. You might find that it takes more energy to heat the water than you might think and would increase your wood consumption. I am not a fan of OWBs but that might be the way to go as long as you have lots of wood. After all, they have quite the appetite in...

    losing down pressure on splitter...

I worked as a Millwright for over 30 years and have yet to see air causing oil to be milky. Water - yes, air - not that I have ever seen. Also cavitation is something other than air entrapment. Cavitation is what happens when the oil is actually pulled apart or vapourized inside the pump...

    Placing a 066 big bore

You guys reuse the clips? When I learned engine rebuilding it was advised not to reuse the pin retainers. Of course that was with motorcycle engines and the consequences of a failure could be dire.

    LOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooonnnggg!!!!!!!

Just think of all the gas you stand to save. After all, you don't have to drive anywhere to get neat to a log now :rockn: You can cut a tree down in the next county without leaving home

    Drying Wood

I find wood dries faster when stacked but the tarp thing keeps it damp. It almost rains under that tarp. Found out the hard way when tarping hay and it ain't no better on wood.

    Which Stove

We get a build-up of coals after burning with the draft closed too much while trying to extend the burn time. Comes a time we have to shovel the coals out to make room for more wood or you can't get a hot enough fire to heat you up.

    worst wood species to burn

Willow. We only have birch, poplar and conifers to choose from here. 90% of our woodpile was poplar and 10% birch going into last winter. Poplar stinks like hell but I have to buy birch and poplar grows on our land.

    Norwood Porta Mill

Hmm, the Portamill is limited to max 14" diameter logs. At that rate you shouldn't need a forklift to load. you could almost do it by hand LOL The Woodbug has greater capacity.

    Night feedings

Wake @ 2:15 and again @ 5:15, have a squirt, put the dogs out, jam wood in the stove, let the dogs back in, go to bed, can't remember going back to sleep. Got it down to a science I guess.:jawdrop:

    066 twice seized - 2100CP?

Well, thar ya are! The decision is made. Makes me wonder what this thread was all about anyway? Online opinions without the option to actually see and feel the parts don't mean much. All anyone can do is guess. Takes money to put a saw back together just to "see what happens". :ices_rofl...

    Who sweeps their own chimney

For the same reason that a welder needs a dedicated SS wire brush to use when he is welding stainless. Steel bristles not only scratch the SS but they actually leave traces of steel embedded in the SS that can and will start to rust and once it starts it spreads to the rest of the SS.

    A Spider Just Got Cooked

Yup. The chickens like to crowd around when I am splitting wood. Between the grubs, beetles and ants in some pieces and the worms on the ground under the wood the chickens have a nice meal.

    Chimney was clogged today!

I made a stove once for my garage and it had a heat exchanger divided in half so the flue gases traveled one way in the lower half and then returned via the top half. It worked well for delivering heat but . . . unless it was run wide open the length of level run the smoke had to travel made...

    training goats

Hispanics, Portuguese, Greeks, Italians, Burmese, Arabs, Jamaicans, and more eat goat. Just as beef is to us, goat meat is to to them. It is their staple meat. More goat milk is produced and consumed worldwide than any other kind of milk. Cow's milk is popular in this country because of...

    training goats

We have 5. One was rejected by her mama and so we brought her into the house to raise. She was bottle fed and watched TV in the house for 4 days . . . then she took to doing a tap-dance on the coffee table. Her name is Babe and she still comes when we call her and she is two now. What a suck...
