    Stihl 026 porting

You will not be running the OEM 026 air filter if you switch to a bigger carb.

So question of the day did poulan ever make any good reliable chainsaws or weedeaters etc

Few like my recommendations on those saws.

    How Many Chains

From your post count and your join up date I can see you have not been on here long. There are members on here that own 200, 300 and even 700 or more chainsaws so just a mere 300 loops of chain hardly scratches the surface of chainsaw collectors/users. If I counted up all the rolls of new chain...

Tear it down look to see where the oil is coming from, the fix will then be quite obvious.

Pioneer saws other than the label and paint color.

The Counter Vibes were one of their best offerings.

    Stihl 026 porting

Winter filter works great on my 026`s and have so for 20 odd years, they breathe very well but others claim they let through fine dust. Not for me but a finer mesh may be needed for areas that have drier conditions.

The 2 man Poulans were likely the biggest saws they made, the 2400 and the 5200 come to mind. Many of the sand cast Poulans were big and sort of heavy.

Myself and my dad ran 306A`s and 245`s, they were very well made all magnesium chassis saws. The site linked below will take you to many of the good Poulans starting with the 3400, 3700 and on up. https://www.acresinternet.com/cscc.nsf/GasbyManufacturer?OpenView&Start=1&Count=1000&Expand=113#113

Fun story: Stihl 026 won't run with wrong carb

The carb from a 260 will run a 026 ,no problem, not the 261. If the carb from a 260 did not run on a 026 then it was a defective carb.

    How Many Chains

Somewhere in the area of 300 chains, I once had it figured out there was over 300 feet of chain hanging on the bars plus all the spare loops.

Back in the 70 and 80`s they made some fine saws.

    Stihl 026 porting

AM cylinder kits are well known for that problem along with port timing being way off, port shapes and directive angles being terrible, the transfer tunnels being odd shaped and often smaller than OEM, little wonder why they are under powered and down on compression.

Sure is quiet in here....do I need to start a fight?

My phone camera really sucks when pointed at any light emitting object, just a big blur or splotch but the Canon can take good clear pics of the moon or other lit up objects, took plenty at Burning Man at night.

    frankensaw went lean...

AM fuel line deterioration? Even the OEM lines break down now that there is up to 15% ethanol in the gasoline.

Nice pics, I watched the eclipse through my auto darkening welding helmet, was quite a site, did not try taking pics as I don`t have any filters for my camera, wasn`t a total here but so close there was not enough light at its darkest point to keep my helmet darkened.

    Chainsaw compression

    Are they hollow?

    Chainsaw compression

The adapters without a Schrader valve will cause a lower reading, they effectively increase the combustion chamber volume

    3/16 vs 5/32 file

Filing the cutters back until the cutters are about 1/4" long on a new chain will get a fast cutting chain, if the saw powerhead has enough oomph the depth gauges can be dropped lower, say .030 to .035 and it will get some serious shavings/chips coming off that setup. Running a 20" bar and...
