    Not AGAIN!!!

Misalignment will do it. I have seen even the US made couplers torn up due to the two shafts being out of alignment.

    log lifter

I have the same log lift. It works well for the vast majority of the wood i split. I weigh in at about 180 lbs and sometimes have trouble generating enough lifting froce to move the big rounds onto the beam. I think I have some pictures of it in use in a thread I posted a while back. Hydrolic...

The Confidence Test- The Science of Irrationality

Is the $1.10 price before or after my state adds 7% sales tax?

I'm Thinking of Buying an ATV

I realize that this may be a little off the topic for the firewood forum, but this is the section I visit the most on this site. The vehicle will also be used in gathering/transporting firewood so I think that qualifies. Let me start by saying that I have never owned an ATV before, and I do not...

    Stupid Question?

I agree. Keeping it covered will help with seasoning and reducing mold. If you are burning wood to save money, I would think that the cost of running a large fan all of the time to circulate the air inside would be cost prohibitive.

Nice job! I am curious how long is the "cheater arm?"

    First fire of the year

I cleaned the chimney liner this week because the temperature is starting to drop at night. I'll try to hold off lighting a fire for a few more weeks, or until the wife threatens to turn the furnace on.

    Which Log Splitter to buy?

Timberwolf I purchased an entry level timberwolf (TW-p1) about five years ago. I have have had nothing but good luck with the machine sine. I have probably split about six cords a year on average. The machine does not split vertically, so I ordered the manually activated log lift after a few...

I hope we're half way tru winter

I have about 3 cord of split seasoned left. It should be good enough to get me through the rest of the winter. I just picked up two cords of green red oak logs before last weeks storm to get started for next year.

splitting wood after 28 inches of snow

We got about 14" up here. I enjoy going plowing but I'm running out of places to put the snow.

    Easy wood!

Nice score, I also say black locust. One of my favorite fire woods.

    $60 gas Bill

National grid charges me a "customer charge" of $12 a month in addition to the gas I use. It must be nice to collect $144 a year before the meter even turns.

    Burning Propane tonight !

I,m in the same boat. I had the N/G furnace on for a little while today but I couldn't stand it anymore and lit a fire around 7pm. It's still about 47 degrees outside so I have it chocked all the way back in an attempt to keep the house temp under 75.

    Thats my boy.....

That's great! My little guy is only 2 weeks old but I'm already waiting til the day he gets old enough to come out and split wood with me!

    My latest free wood scores

Nice score! I've been burning two year seasoned black locust for the last week and I love it. It just may be the best firewood there is.

That is it! I am covering it!!

Yup, it's pouring out right now! I have this coming winters wood covered on the top. I usually cover the top in the winter and take it off in the summer months to help it dry out but it has been far too wet to do so this year.

    Good deal?

Thanks for posting those pics. That is a great deal on that saw I think they sell for about $140 new. I have used that model on the job site many times and it always performed well. Good luck with your new purchases.
