    Stihl 051 and 076 parts

Bumping this thread, has anyone ever removed the black cover over the rear handle on an 075, 076, or 041? It seems impossible to slip it over the throttle lock without breaking it. There must be a trick? Thanks.

No More Shipped Husky's From Bailey's

Isn't Baileys now selling Huskys online again, limited models? That would be reason to bump the thread. Non pro type saws I believe, so maybe not reason enough.....

    Good approach.

    Will a ported 034 run with a stock 044?

When you say, "Beaten up with rounds", I guess that you are talking about bucking up the tree now, so I agree that a larger saw than for just cutting limbs is required. If you are doing both bucking and limbing at the same time, than I'm the same as you, I generally use the bigger saw for the...

    Will a ported 034 run with a stock 044?

I think that you have to qualify what is a "limbing saw". A 090 could be a limbing saw if you only have one tree to dis-assemble. If you are doing it all day long, weight becomes a factor. Saying that a 60cc saw is basically a limbing saw, although it may apply to you and big limbs, most...

    Will a ported 034 run with a stock 044?

It's good to have high standards, but in my case, the modified 036 nicely handles trees up to 20", the length of the bar, then I jump up to the Husky for anything larger . Raising the compression on the 036, along with porting and piston work, muffler, gave another 1000rpm, and bad azz...

Advise needed on Stihl 034 air filter

Brushwacker, Maybe you can hook up with another one off ebay or somewhere. I don't mind the inconvenience so much either, I carry a soft paint brush when I'm out working with the saw, and as you say, about every fill up or so clean it off. I put a ported 036 jug on the 034, and am...

Advise needed on Stihl 034 air filter

Can anyone advise a larger air filter that will fit on an 034 saw to increase air intake capacity. It's a modified saw, and the stock 034 filter loads up with dust very quick. Thanks!

    Will a ported 034 run with a stock 044?

Not sure how the match-up would go, but putting a ported 036 cylinder on a 034 case, makes for a light and powerful saw, with mucho grunt.

Need advice on Husky 242xp drive sprocket

My Husky 242 has a rim and drum sprocket system, and came with .325 pitch. I want to convert to 3/8 pitch -7. Is it just a matter of getting an Oregon small spline 3/8 -7 tooth rim, or is there another specific sprocket that is required to fit the drum? I don't see any 3/8 sprockets...

Reason for low backcut on bore cut leaner?

There is no definitive answer. It depends on the degree of lean, weight factor, and how much holding wood you have left, both at the hinge and at the back. More lean means cut lower, as the article explains, but that is a somewhat incomplete explanation. If you don't have experience to tell...

Reason for low backcut on bore cut leaner?

Where...? It mentions to prevent splitting, but what's wrong with splitting if the tree goes over. Because splitting can........... Fill in the blanks.

Reason for low backcut on bore cut leaner?

As mentioned, the low back cut in this case is recommended so that when the tree breaks free, it doesn't grab the saw bar and take it with it. Cutting even with or above the bore cut, can grab the saw in the split. Better to nip away at the holding wood below the bore cut, especially for a...

    Riding a crane

Randy, sounds like a very good safe system that you have going with the climb line through the friction saver above the hook. Since I rely solely on my lanyard around the hook, I went from using a steel core one, to just a 3/4" climbing line. I think I get a better bite around the hook with...
