    Stihl 280 CQS vs. 310 - recommendations?

Noah,I've got to nod my head in your direction, good choice in a saw. I'am not bashing Stihl and do own a MS290.The 359 has larger fuel and oil tanks,wet/filled I doubt you would notice much difference in the weight. What really matters is how the saw feels to you. Now,considering the rain...

my 372 keeps leaning out? why?

From the information you've given it's the "partial throddle" comment that I feel may be the cause of the problem.Run your saw at full throddle. If the problem persist you have something to be concerned about, air leak etc. I have a 20" bar on my 372 and never run it at partial throddle. The saw...

    Stump Saw

Make life easier on yourself, get the 365 or 372.Why? Check the Husky and Stihl sites.Pay attention to oiler tank volume on each brand which is indicitive of what the oiler is capable of delivering to the bar.If you're going to run a 24" bar,in my opinion, you're better off with a Husky and should...

    Chain Issues.. anyone??

Thanks for the accurate information Q,makes sence to me. I like soft chain,it's easier to file. Rick AKA "Spud"(as in potato)

    Chain Issues.. anyone??

Well it's a fact,no matter how SHARP your chain is it will not put more oil on the bar, period. My suggestions are; 1 Install a shorter bar (less surface area to lube) or, 2 Install a 357 oiler on your 346.Perhaps someone could list the part numbers of the oilers in question.I don't...

    Chain Issues.. anyone??

It's probably just a defective placebo oiler the dealer installed when his first oiler failed:D Rick

    Chain Issues.. anyone??

Their are a few issues here,a oiler can be working properly and if you have a longer bar on the saw you may tend to get more stretch or a hotter chain.Same if the chain is not sharp. Rocky, did'nt you replace the oiler on your 346?If so,why? Rick

    Get Together At Dan's!!!

Glens,is that you? I thought for sure you were a grumpy old man that walks around poking Husky saws with his cane. That's a great group picture. Rick

    Results from DozerDans

Well it's good to know at least what Stihltech and Myrb were cutting with. How about some saw id to go with those times? I left specific instructions to leave your keys in your trucks. Now why did'nt anyone follow my instructions? Rick

Looking to buy a saw..any opinions??

I would recommend a 346/372(on-line,internet) combo, for the money you'll get the best bang for the buck and performance. If you want to "split the baby" with only one saw the 357xp would get the nod. It just does not make since to me to wear a 372 on the small cuts when a cheaper saw will take...

    Chain Stretch

Heat causes expansion of metal.Likely the word "stretch"(but it works for me) does not describe exactly what's taking place. This is why you should not tighten a hot chain and then not use/store the saw.As the metal cools it tightens up on the bar and can damage the powerhead. Then their is...

    Starting Husky's, 350 & others

I think Rocky climbs down out of the tree and starts his saw safely on the ground. Is that right Rocky? That's with the chainbrake engaged,of course. Rick

idont think [u fill in the name] knows nothin about saws.

If you know that you don't know....well you're a pretty wise person. If you don't really know what you think you know...well you could end up in a pickle:mad: Hey Fish good to read ya! Chainsaw Rick

    .043 gauge chain

.043 PMN may well cut just a little faster then .050 Stihl PM chain.I have PMN on my 021 with a rollermatic mini bar.A advantage over PM is the weight of PMN bar and chain.PMN chain will tend to be better lubed because of the smaller gauge bar groove, takes a little less bar oil to keep the...

    Carlton Bar

While .063 may be a common gauge I would not consider it that common(considering your saw sizes). You will need 3/8 pitch .063 gauge chain to match that new Carolton bar(assume you currently have .050 gauge bar and chain,3/8 pitch chain and 7 tooth rim sprocket). .063 gauge would be more...

    I need a coil for a STIHL .029

I have a MS290 and consider it a good solid performer. As for as Stihl saws and cost is concerned it may be the best bang for the buck in their line-up.Because of it's cost I would'nt put much in the saw as for as repairs are concerned, would just get a new one. If you can't trade for a new...

    I need a coil for a STIHL .029

If someone here does not have a used coil check ebay for a parts saw.It may take awhile but you may even find a coil listed. There comes a time when you might want to consider a different saw:) Rick
