Want to Buy Shindaiwa 488 muffler

Could you PM me the names of the sponsors who are still carrying Shindaiwa parts? I'd appreciate it!

Want to Buy Shindaiwa 488 muffler

Someone out there must have a parts saw hanging around...I know that Shinnies run forever and so parts saws are hard to find, but there has to be one somewhere! Why do I need it? My muffler got crushed when a tree came down on it. The rest of the saw is in good shape, but the muffler is toast...

    Stihl MS 250 C-BE or Shindaiwa 488

Not even a contest....get the Shindaiwa. Different league entirely than the 250. -=[ Grant ]=-

    Microfiche to digital?

There are several options. First, the low-tech option is to simply print out each page and scan them into the digital format of your choice. This of course requires a reader/printer, which many libraries still have. Second, you could try a high resolution flatbed scanner with a transparency...

Stihl is certainly proud of their chain

We have another.....WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH! (Any further over your head and we'd have to get FAA clearance!) :yoyo:

Stihl is certainly proud of their chain

It's made by someone else, on the same line from the same material as a supposed lesser brand, marked up 400%, and sold on revolving credit to people who are impressed by brand names? :poke:

newbie with new to me shindaiwa 488

I run an 18" .325 narrow kerf setup on my 488; it cuts like a banshee with that combo. Congrats on getting a great saw! (The Pro filter setup is a MUST!) -=[ Grant ]=-

    Props to Snap-On tools

For years Proto was the subcontractor for Snap-On; many of them were made in Proto's Milwaukie, OR plant. (The plant was closed in the late '80s, if memory serves.) Proto was the original patent assignee for the Flank Drive. Personally, I prefer Wright tools - made in the U.S. from U.S...

    Shindaiwa Saws...Thumbs Up or Down?

Two big thumbs up. I've owned Shinny gear for years; bought a T20 trimmer when they were first introduced, if that tells you anything. All the products I've had have been first-rate. Many years ago I lived a short drive away from Shindaiwa's headquarters in Tualatin (Oregon). Their technical...

    Best Splitting Axe - Opinions?

I'm very partial to the Gransfors Large Splitting Axe. Absolutely superb tool. There is very little a maul can handle that the LSA can't. (They also make a maul, which I haven't used. If it's anything like their axes, it would be the King of Mauls!) -=[ Grant ]=-

    More fun in Oregon

That's the way it usually is...when the "big boys" run into trouble, it's always the Shinny Brigade that bails 'em out. "Shindaiwa - first to start, last to quit!" -=[ Grant ]=-

    Most under rated chainsaw????

Another vote for the 488. And the 757. Heck, any Shindaiwa! -=[ Grant ]=-

    My First Shindaiwa!

NO! DON'T LISTEN TO HIM! HE'S REALLY THE DEVIL! Overlook these saws; pass them by, do not even glance in their direction. They are just crappy "Jap saws", not worth your time and effort. You want quality German engineering, even if it is built like an Echo at twice the price! (There. That...

Oregon law regarding ethanol changed yesterday

Because gasoline is mandated to have 10% ethanol. If they mix regular that has ethanol with premium that doesn't, the resulting mix will only have 5% ethanol, below the legal requirement. It would be unsalable. Clear? -=[ Grant ]=-

Oregon law regarding ethanol changed yesterday

Yes, Nelson still has it (at least, as of a month or so ago.) It's regular, unfortunately, and as you note more expensive. I'm told it was "intended" to be distributed to marinas, but they'd sell it to anyone with their own container. -=[ Grant ]=-
