There goes Dan's truck. Dan, why are you standing next to me?

Although I feel your pain as I have lost some nice stuff to crooks, setting traps is a bad idea! If I step on someones bear trap in the woods, you can believe Ill be waitin on ya to come check it whether I can get it off myself or not. These kind of illegal booby traps seldom get the person you...

    husqvarna 262xp & 365

Most all the 262 parts are still available right from Husqvarna including the top cover you are looking for. I have 3 262s and have never had trouble getting anything for them.

opinions of troy bilt log splitter from lowes?

Those TB splitters have decent components but the design puts the wheels dead in my way when splitting horizontally. I dunno how you guys can use them without gettin a sore back or trippin over the wheels. I have a 5 yr old 22t Tractor Supply splitter and my buddy has one that is 20 yrs old...

    I saw it on Ebay/Craigslist

Like new 272xp I have listed my 272 on ebay. She is a shelf queen. I have never cut 1 stick of firewood with her. Only a few "cookies". LOL..... Check it out. http://cgi.ebay.com/Husqvarna-272xp-chainsaw-PERFECT-CONDITION-272-/130392683896?cmd=ViewItem&pt=US_Chainsaws&hash=item1e5c027578

    257-262 transformation

You will need to mod the 257 partitian to accept the 262 intake. Not a big deal just a lil grinding. This is a great upgrade and these saws run great. I prefer the 257 air cleaner system because the 261/262 can have issues with sealing. Its also a good idea to mod the muffler as the 257 is quite...

how to, that DANG stihl chainbrake spring!

A modified piece of 3/16" automotive steel brake line works very well. Just grind one side off at the end.

    Husky 372 or 575xp?

I had the chance to make a few cuts with a new 576xp at the Paul Bunyan show and as a 372xp owner I must admit the 576 is a nice smooth saw with good power and didn't really feel any heavier than my 372. The rep told me it has totally new engineering since the 575 and claims it has been well...

    066 has funny looking piston

That is part of a needle bearing from the rod. I hope its from the top or you may not have enough good parts left to be worth putting that thing back together.

    Metal piston stop or rope?

I like to use a light oil like Marvels Mystery Oil or air tool oil. If it gets down in the engine through the ports I just hold the saw upside down with the plug out and give a few pulls. Again if you get the piston very close to TDC it doesn't take very much oil to lock it up.

    Metal piston stop or rope?

The "safest" way to lock up any engine for clutch or flywheel removal and installation is to hydraulically lock the engine with some light oil. Rotate the engine in the direction that you need it locked in until the piston is almost TDC and the fill the cylinder with oil through the spark plug...

Old chain saw mix oil specification...

Any of the newer quality 2 stroke oils will be fine @ 50:1 but keep in mind that going from 10:1 to 50:1 is going to richen the fuel mixture considerably. You will probably have to lean the high and low mixture screws some to get the saw back to a proper tune.

    Harbor Fright parts washer?

I have a 20 gal tank setup with Simple Green and it has no problem cutting grease and grime off my saws. Nice that it rinses clean with water too.

Heh, my bad. I knew that but somehow typed it wrong. LOL

    husky 350 with Ne346xp P&C

The 350 is detuned in terms of porting and compression. It even has a dished piston. Both the original 346 (45 cc) and the new 346NE (50 cc) have more power and RPM than the 350. I noticed a significant difference when I switched out my cylinder.

    husky 350 with Ne346xp P&C

It is possible with a couple very minor mods. You will need to "shave" away a little of the plastic housing on the inside of the right side to make clearance for the larger transfer castings in the 346 jug and you will also need to grind about 2 threads off the stock jug bolts as the 346 base is...

    labonville 6 ply kevlar boots

I've been wearing Red Wings since I started working 20 years ago. I have never had a bad pair. Some pair have lasted 2 years of daily use. They have also recently farmed their manufacturing out to China but the quality still seems to be good at least for the time being. Their Steel Toe loggers...

How do you (or do you) clean up your chainsaw before working on it?

I have a 20 gal parts tank filled with simple green. I put a parts brush on the end of the hose and it works great. Quick rinse with water when your done and everything sparkles.

    Best Online Source for tools?

A good trick is to back the flywheel nut off a few threads, put a socket on the nut and then while holding all the weight of the motor by the flywheel whack the socket . This protects the nut from damage and will usually free the flywheel on 1 or 2 whacks.
